It will be as large a victory, as it was a loss in 1972. No, I won't tell you why I think so, but one day after the election, by mid day, of that Wednesday morning, you will see I am correct. Well, I have been wrong so many times, so that will not bother me. And, what is wrong with a prediction of an election about 3 months into the future? I sure hope that I am right. And if I am, I will tell you why on that day. If I am wrong, well....What else is new?...(Why give away the secret...they are lurking here aren't they??)

(38,414 posts)This can indeed happen if we vote, and the independents vote. Those mad enough, if they get out to vote this will happen. It is not important why, just tell everyone to vote, and "change can happen"
..And I do believe people want a change. That is pretty simple. This crowd must go, and this idiot must be checked by us. It is that simple..

(38,414 posts)Republican Party......and I decided that a day before the election I will tell you why I think this..not after, but before...and then we will see ...?

(16,646 posts)All I'm saying is explain which seats will flip, which races will be won in order to result in the outcome you anticipate. It would also be useful to mention the seats we WON'T lose either.

(36,745 posts)Nice simple 51 seat Senate majority too.

(4,066 posts)We need to be laser-focused on getting out the vote. Not counting our chickens before they hatch. We sort of did that with the 2016 election and look where we are now.

(7,505 posts)Think of it more like a coach telling the team 'we ARE going to win' as a confidence boost. We need GOTV and to work hard but a little positive wishes help too.

(7,627 posts)If we absolutely run the tables and keep all our 26 seats and get all 9 from the republicans we would be at 58 dems, 42 gop.
it would be incredible. still two short of fillibuster proof and 8 short of convicting after an impeachment by the house.
More realistically, out of those 9 gop seats, we definiitely will pick some. if we keep all dems seats, we only need 2 gop seats (for example arizona, nevada are likely). How many more we will pick will be key because we could lose some vulnerable dem seats.
I would not say it will be a wave in the senate but I am hopeful we can retake it by a couple seats which will be critical in itself. We will control the agenda, the commitees with subponea power, what gets on the floor and be able to stop nominees but not even giving them a vote like they did for merrick garland.

(14,565 posts)Due to the variable you mentioned, the extremely lopsided number of seats we are defending, and many in unfriendly or neutral territory.
I would be semi-shocked if we picked up the senate.
Look at these odds from Predictwise. Currently the projection is 71% likelihood that Republicans maintain the majority, 16% at 50/50 -- which is basically equivalent to Republican majority -- and only 13% toward Democratic takeover.

The House, in contrast, is 63-37% likelihood of Democratic control, on the same site.

(90,627 posts)Yes, we will have the votes. But Vlad still has his thumb on the scales and the ratfckers in Congress have not yet seen fit to declare cyberwar on Russia.
I am very uneasy at predictions like yours. We had the votes for Hillary, too.
