I just... I don't know.
Some of the guards apparently have been telling some of the separated children that their parents don't want them anymore.
Who can do that? Who can fucking do that and go home and sleep and not kill themselves?
That one story pushed me over the edge. I don't know.
I used to be certain we could rebuild this country. I'm not sure that's something I want to do now.

(40,205 posts)This story makes me feel so disillusioned about this world. How could there even be such a person who would say that to a child? Are people born with a cruelty gene?

(14,489 posts)and these type jobs tend to attract those assholes. They should somehow be screened out before being hired.
And yes, as I understand it (as an amateur) it is genetic and affects at least 1% of our population. This problem is amplified many times, as a single psycho in a group of officials can lead the whole damn bunch down a dangerous path like lemmings.
Just witness Donald Trump as a good example......... ..........

(2,425 posts)...that every moment we have on this Earth is just potential. And every moment we make a choice about what potential to develop. All you have to do is this moment. Dont give up. Just focus on this moment and what you choose to develop this very moment. Make this moment be about what you truly value and keep developing that potential. Dont get exhausted by the future. All you have and all you need is right here and now.

Were going to be defined by the compassion we show, the help we give, the table we expand, the walls we destroy, the outsiders we welcome, the beauty we exchange, the peace we make, the huddled masses we embrace.
Were going to be defined by a love you seem incapable of and hostile to.
To hell with your hateful version of America, Donald Trump.
Were not having it.
This is EXACTLY how I feel this morning.

They should be able to defend this in public.
Edit: also, Kirstjen Nielsen and Alex Azar bear responsibility.

(51,584 posts)These are the types of immoral employees that are getting paid (with our tax dollars by the way) to permanently scar kids and there is no excuse. Period. I can imagine the stuff they say and do that we and the media are not even aware of. The fucking moron, Stephen Miller and Neilsen had this plan and instructed the private companies (who are profiting greatly) to do exactly this! Their plan was to treat them like shit so that word would spread to their home countries and deter more "brown people from those shit hole coumteies" from desiring to leave a life of crimes and abuse to come to a country that is supposedly safe.
If anyone reading this lives near DC and can harass these monsters when they are out of their offices, please, please, please do it! It worked with Fuckubee Sanders, Miller, Neilsen and McConnell (twice). Keep doing it 24/7 and DO NOT STOP! Make their lives Hell like theses poor families have had to endure due to their vile NAZI policies.

It's grotesque and purposely cruel.
But then, it's been clear (as someone said -- wish I caught who): cruelty isn't a byproduct, but the intent.
