have decided to not eat there anymore because of their anti-gay stance.
In all my years I've never seen anything like it. My kids--- High Schoolers--- and their friends have stopped going there.
My wifes co-workers refuse to eat there.... one of her co-workers who is a Republican has stopped going because her daughter is a Lesbian.
For those who think the protest hasn't worked..... I think you are big time wrong.
BTW: I live in a very conservative area in Central Florida.

(2,442 posts)I suspect this hurts them financially. And they are a very large company, so it could be millions.

(40,656 posts)will they keep going? Not likely. They wil have a few good days and then the backbone customers, those who are going to not come again will make the impact. its just that in every community with one, you got to see the bigots. I would imagine a lot of it was inter church coordination.

(5,924 posts)The company definitely has its friends, but that only translates into one "appreciation day" of record sales.

(6,890 posts)I drove by the local CfA and KFC just walking distance of each other today. There was practically no one at the KFC, but the CfA was quite busy. But I do agree with the OP, I never will go to a CfA. I don't support franchises anyway as there are plenty of local businesses.

(24,411 posts)...and I bet it would easily bet a million "likes."
The company scrubs its FB page, and for good reason. They have their bigoted cheerleaders, but they are outnumbered by people who reject their hate, probably 10:1.

(802 posts)to Uber-RIGHT wing organizations have me on a major crusade against them. Just one look over the southern poverty law center's website descriptions of these organizations will convince any sane person to steer clear of CFA sandwiches... forever.

(6,785 posts)I think Chik-Fil-A screwed up big time. The kind of people that were staging a counter boycott have an attention span that can be measured in hours. Yeah, they'll all pile into the place to eat for a few days, but they won't keep eating there.
We're not going to forget that it's run by a bigot and gives money to bigots.

I bet if you checked out what radio stations Michael Page had on his car radio the local Limbaugh station was tops on his list.

(14,459 posts)I think the bigger victory here was the dialogue it opened, and dare I say, sea change? The mood toward this issue is moving more from "Religious people have the right to oppress minorities!" to "Discrimination is unacceptable, no matter who it's directed at."
Makes me a little hopeful

(802 posts)in the middle of a climate-change created DUST BOWL!
This summer being any indicator of climate change acceleration, may just indicate the death knell of the UBER right wing. Especially hard hit will be where the likes are all too numerous. How embarassing for these flat-earth holdouts.
