Yeah, but what's IN the FISA warrant?

This is a great timeline of the warrants (and thanks to kpete for posting the first tweet in his OP here https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210908903):

FISA COURT WARRANT APPLICATIONS
FOR
CARTER PAGE

CONTENTS THREAD

DOCUMENT LINK:
int.nyt.com/data/documenth…

There are FOUR DOCUMENTS within this 412 page PDF:
The original warrant application and four subsequent renewal applications.

1/x
FISA
=
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

FISA allows the U.S. govt to perform surveillance on American citizens, with the submission of info about why it is necessary and the approval of the submitted info by a special court, the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court.

2/x
The original FISA warrant application to surveil Carter Page was submitted in October 2016, before the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

It begins on page one and continues through page 83 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…).

3/x

On page 32 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can find the "conclusion" section or the original warrant application:

"The FBI believes Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government..."

4/x

On page 63 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see the original FISA application was submitted in October 2016 by then FBI Director @Comey:

5/x

On page 65 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see then Acting Director of the Department of Justice @SallyQYates signed off on Comey's application in October 2016, which moved the application along to the FISA court:

6/x

On page 83 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), Judge Rosemary M. Collyer approved the original October 2016 application for the surveillance warrant on Carter Page:

7/x

Now we have reached the expiration of the initial October 2016 FISA application on Carter Page.

On page 84 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), the January 2017 renewal application begins and continues through page 181.

(Trump has not yet been inaugurated.)

8/x

On page 127 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can find the "conclusion" section of the renewal application:

"The FBI believes Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government..."

9/x

On page 159 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see this FISA renewal application was also submitted in January 2017 by then FBI Director Comey.

10/x

On page 161 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see then Acting Director of the Department of Justice Sally Yates signed off on the January 2017 renewal application submitted by Comey:

11/x

Given the names of other potential signatories shown on the signature pages of the first renewal application for the FISA warrant on Carter Page, it appears that application went forward pre-Inauguration, when Obama was still POTUS.

12/x

On page 181 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), Judge Michael W. Mosman approved the first renewal FISA warrant application for the surveillance warrant on Carter Page:

13/x

(I know these details are a bit tedious, but they are important. Bear with me. These details are critical in showing the narrative of Trump, his campaign, his administration, and the Republican enablers for the lie that it is.)

14/x
On January 30, 2017, Trump FIRED Acting AG @SallyQYates, ostensibly over the Muslim Ban.

Yates signed off on the first two FISA apps about Carter Page, and Trump would have had access by this time to the information about the FBI investigation.

15/x
Trump Fires Acting Attorney General Who Defied Him
The acting attorney general, Sally Q. Yates, on Monday ordered government lawyers not to defend President Trump’s executive order on immigration in court.

On or around January 27, 2017, Trump had the dinner with @Comey in which Trump famously asked Comey to pledge "loyalty" to him:

16/x
What Really Happened at the Trump-Comey Dinner?
With two conflicting accounts of a meeting, the president says the FBI director “better hope that there are no ‘tapes.’”
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/05/trump-comey-dinner-tapes-nixon/526449/
If Trump had seen the materials related to the FISA warrant on Carter Page (or been told about them by others), he would have known Comey submitted the original application and the subsequent initial renewal.

That initial renewal expired in April 2017.

17/x
So we have reached the expiration of the initial FISA renewal on Carter Page, and application for renewal is made again.

On page 182 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), the April 2017 renewal application begins and continues through page 291.

Trump is now POTUS.

18/x

On page 236 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can find the "conclusion" section of the second FISA renewal application:

"The FBI believes Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government..."

19/x

On page 269 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see this second FISA renewal application was also submitted by then FBI Director Comey, in April of 2017.

20/x

On page 271 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see Dana Boente, the then U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of VA, signed as Acting Director of the Department of Justice on the April 2017 second FISA renewal application because he was next in the hierarchy:

21/x

(At the time Dana Boente signed, Jeff Sessions had been named as Attorney General by Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate, but he had recused himself from Russia-related investigations. Sally Yates had been fired, and no one else had yet been appointed to be Deputy AG.)

22/x
On page 291 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see Judge Anne C. Conway approved the second renewal FISA warrant application for the FISA surveillance warrant on Carter Page:

This is the THIRD judge who has reviewed and approved these applications.

23/x

This renewed warrant is effective from a redacted date in April 2017 through a redacted date in June 2017.

But keep in mind, given the rest of the time frames, it was likely signed and submitted forward in mid to late April 2017 by Comey.

24/x
In early May 2017, what happened? Do you remember?

That's right.

TRUMP FIRED COMEY.

Unceremoniously, and with a variety of excuses put forth at different times about why he did so.

25/x
F.B.I. Director James Comey Is Fired by Trump
President Trump abruptly terminated Mr. Comey, who was leading an investigation into whether Mr. Trump’s advisers colluded with Russia to influence the election.

After James Comey was fired from the position of FBI director, then Deputy Director Andrew McCabe became Acting Director in May 2017.

In June 2017, the FISA warrant on Carter Page again expired and required renewal.

26/x
On page 292 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), the June 2017 renewal application begins and continues through page 412.

This is the THIRD renewal and the FOURTH submission made to the FISA court about the warrant to surveil Carter Page.

27/x

On page 355 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can find the "conclusion" section of this third renewal application:

"The FBI believes Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government..."

28/x

On page 389 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see this third FISA renewal application was submitted in June 2017 by then Acting Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe.

The FBI Director signature line is blank because no one had yet been appointed and confirmed.

29/x

On page 391 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see the NEW, TRUMP-APPOINTED Deputy Attorney General of the Department of Justice, Rod Rosenstein, signed off on the June 2017 third FISA renewal application regarding Carter Page:

30/x

On page 412 of the PDF (int.nyt.com/data/documenth…), you can see Judge Raymond J. Dearie approved this third renewal FISA warrant application for the surveillance warrant on Page.

He is the FOURTH federal judge to have reviewed the various materials and approved the warrant.

31/x

This FOURTH submission and THIRD renewal of the FISA warrant application was signed in June 2017.

Just like Trump did with Comey, he began attacking McCabe.

Trump's first tweets about McCabe were in July 2017, and he has continued to attack him as recently as last month:

32/x

These FISA docs and related news events clearly demonstrate:

1. This ONE part of the #TrumpRussia investigation involved TWO heads of FBI, THREE leaders of the DoJ, and FOUR federal judges.
and
2. Once in office, Trump repeatedly sought REVENGE against those involved.

33/x
CONSCIOUSNESS OF GUILT.

Period.

Trump, the WH, and the leadership of the GOP can try to deny, deflect, and defame all they want, but the evidence trail is clear.

This is ONE part of Mueller's #TrumpRussia investigation.

Just one.

Imagine what we don't know.
