I've been saying all along, this goes deep, really deep. And I don't mean just deep into congress. I believe it's tentacles reach to many local governments and organizations. Mueller could likely use 10,000 more people working for him. Every last traitor needs to be exposed.

You don't bring in 16 veteran top gun prosecutors to prosecute only Paul Manafort and a handful of Russians that they all know will never see the inside of an American jail cell. Mueller is onto something big. And yes, it will break one day. But it's probably going to still be awhile. These things take time. Our job is to resist with everything we have in the meantime and let them do their jobs behind the scenes.

It may be sufficient to eject the top 3 or 4 layers and let the system reset itself by elections. Society depends upon structure, businesses, political leaders, payrolls, banks for example.

This is not the party that Abe Lincoln started. This is a pack of self serving jackals that have no care for the citizens they should be serving. The last truly weak president was Millord Fillmore who took down the Whigs. Now history will record that Donald Trump took down the Republican party by repeated acts of treason, while his party stood by and did nothing.

26. A case study in party discipline
Sun Jul 22, 2018, 06:21 PM
Jul 2018

Some are hoping to squeak through in November, many are in on the campaign cash that a handful know all about, some are hiding secrets that keep them quiet. Leadership can emerge from competence, money, discipline, ideology, or knowing everyone's secrets. Or some combo. In an era of the surveillance society, there's a lot of information that can be used for control: where one travels, eats, sleeps, who they sleep with, how much they spend. Add in Citizens United cash, and all the other PACs and political organizations. The common good, America, has become irrelevant to political decision-making. We are strong from our military spending and superior technology. The will of much of our citizenry to put country first is not very much. Consumerism yes, America, not so much.

Interesting case you mention, Millard Fillmore. Off to YouTube to catch a video on him tonight. Thanks for mentioning.

but weakening our country through dirty laundry in the short run is not always possible, there are foreign superpowers to compete with, or a Cold War to be won, and there are consequences to total transparency of information and political process. People will be wary of running for office, for example, or foreign governments won't trust us. It's like allowing deposed dictators to retire peacefully. We do it and everyone complains. If we don't do it, no dictators will support us in regions of conflict. There are not always perfect choices or even good ones. There is the lesser of several evils, and tradeoffs to balance those.
