I was discussing the state of things with my cousin at the gym tonight. He mentioned a scenario sort of similar to what happened with Napoleon, in which Trump is thrown out of office, yet refuses to leave, declares himself dictator, and gathers up a militia of gun-toting nut-jobs to help keep him in power.
I said that would bring up a very interesting situation. Trump is removed from office and Pence becomes President. What does Pence do in this scenario? Does he continue to play lapdog to Trump and turn the country over to him, or does he embrace his newfound power and use all the resources at his disposal to put down Trump's attempt at a coup?
Another interesting question: what does the U.S. military do? Which commander-in-chief do they choose to follow?

(29,191 posts)I just don't see the military backing a removal unless it is "legal" (25th or Impeachment and Conviction)... and even with all the LIES and coverup exposed... and the collusion that is sure to follow... not to mention the previous financial and other crimes... the repukes sill not impeach and convict. The cabinet will never invoke the 25th.
We are living in a defacto dictatorship right now. The entire repuke party is in on the collusion... the GOP has been taking Russian money for a few years now.
I just don't believe our military will overthrow the government... and the local police and FBI won't do it. And if we take to the streets to try to effect this... I fear we would all be arrested or killed.
Come up wit a "legal" way to remove Trump before 2020 elections... then we have a different story.
