This makes me sick! Charlotte's been chosen for RNC2020

Charlotte , NC is a blue city in a blue county. Our Mayor , Vi Lyles, is a Democrat , our City Council has 9 Dem members, 2 R's

It's all about the money.

Our Mayor told us we need to be inclusive, meanwhile a black gentleman exited the City Council hearings and walked right into a gaggle of Trump supporters who proceeded to screech "White power!" and We're proud to be white " at him.

It's going to be a dangerous week for people of color, LGBTQ in our city.

No other city wanted to get near this shitshow but Charlotte leaders think this will "put us on the map". Yeah, in a really bad way.

The costs to the actual taxpayers who don't benefit at all will shock everyone. It is a totally disruptive event to host. The city will come to a standstill, I guarantee. Not a good thing.

When the Dems are here, the owners charge extra, and need more (chain link freedomzones) security.

For the repugs, they roll out the red carpet and ship in the whores.

remember when they changed it.

I remember the Observer claiming (on the day after 9/11) that Charlotte was number 4 on the terrorists’ list. Being a “financial center” doncha know.

My parents and I were disgusted that even in disaster, stupid people wanted our city to be “world class” - too funny.

Most folks in the US don’t even know which Carolina we’re in!

But it is about the money. I think by 2020 things will be bad for Russian repukes. The protests in charlotte will be awful and the cost of protecting the repukes will wipe out any revenue they get from hosting the convention.

It always struck me as a tad insecure, a place that deeply desired to be bigger and more meaningful than it was. Atlanta without the story or soul. And I swear it had a church on every corner-new, Protestant, conservative with some money.

I don't know if it's changed but from what I've seen in the ensuing years it's not exactly going to be a wild and crazy time.

Mr. Bear is from NC and I spent years there, mostly in Durham and Winston-Salem, both of which I like.

In fact , one of the churches has been turned into a restaurant downtown. When I first moved here I met more people from the northeast than native Charlotteans. It’s a booming city and has a beautiful downtown but Charlotte has a self esteem problem , definitely.

As you said lots of people from the NE come and go at the universities and in the Research Triangle. And I love the mountains and coast. Mr. Bear’s people come from the mountains for many generations and it’s still another world. So beautiful.
