***Breaking News Poll*** NY GOV DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY - Cuomo 59% Nixon 23%

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo tops challenger Cynthia Nixon, 59 - 23 percent in a Democratic primary, with big leads among all gender, education, age, racial and regional groups in the survey, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.

This compares to a 50 - 28 percent Cuomo lead in a May 2 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll. Today, the governor leads 58 - 20 percent among Democratic women and 60 - 28 percent among men, 53 - 28 percent among white Democrats and 65 - 18 percent among non-white Democrats.

Cynthia Nixon never had a prayer of beating Cuomo. The whole concept is silly. Whether you like Cuomo or not, he's a powerful Democratic force in New York. Cynthia Nixon is an actor, best known for her role in "Sex in the City." No amount of buzz from the Our Revolution folks will change that. Waste of time.

electorate tend to pull our moderates more to the left, at least in rhetoric, but in Cuomo's case, he finally scuttled the IDC, which before apparently, his hands were tied.

What it actually does is show that those who support Nixon have no sense at all. Running an actress with no political history against Cuomo is a chump move. It makes the people behind it look like fools.

Cuomo is running. Cuomo will win. End of story.

Meanwhile, there are other races where a progressive might have a chance to unseat a lousy candidate. Why on Earth waste time on a race that can't be won by your candidate?

Cynthia Nixon's candidacy is just a publicity stunt. It will have no good effect on New York politics at all.

besides she would be more suitable to gain some experience in NYC politics if she is no longer intereted in acting career. All I’ve heard from her is cliche talking points but not her own convictions.

Solid point about how fragile things are right now and how incompetence is creeping in further and further into politics. Our side really seems to be staying away from such foolishness.

Numerous Democrats have been in office in the same seats you reference. It was no golden egg for them. It wasn't the end of electoral politics for Democrats. It sure as heck isn't a model to follow. Three does not make a trend.
