Trump eating McDonald's was a "tell"

I'm sure this has been covered before but I just wanted to reiterate it.

When I saw pics of him with McDonald's and KFC during the campaign I thought it was another stupid PR move by them - See! I'm just like you! I eat fast food on my private plane just like you.

Then we found out that this was actually real. This supposed billionaire restauranteur actually eats fast food. But the question was, Why? Well we found that out too.

Two reasons were given:
1. He felt comfortable given sanitary and health standards (that's regulation Holmes)
2. He could pop into a McD's or KFC and no one could possibly know he was coming. He's worried about being poisoned.

Okay given Trump megalomaniacal narcissistic nature this actually made sense in that this is the kind of private citizen who you could understand thinking that people are constantly thinking about HIM. Someone might conspire to harm a reality TV personality. But wait a minute, POISON??? Who the hell poisons someone in the 21st century???

Oh....that's who.

Yes we've all known (anyone paying attention) that he was at least in debt up to his eyeballs to Russian entities and that all Russian entities in some way run through Putin and/or he was completely dependent on them. The properties he's involved in are tailor made to Russian tastes. One in Florida has street signs in Russian. He also may have been compromised in other ways too.

He showed everyone all they needed to know. After yesterday we know how thick he is with them. He may have actually had reason to be concerned.

Or are you suggesting democrats would force the issue of engaging in nuclear war over Putin poisoning his puppet?

Never mind the official silverware. I have had my occasional share of KFC over the years (it is tasty, after all, although anything but good for you), and other than that plastic spork concoction they give you, you don't eat with utensils.

Chain or mom-and-pop places included.

Chicken is good too. Ridiculously unhealthy, but I'll have it a few times a year.

I'm not a snob when it comes to fast food. It is what it is--a guilty pleasure. Unlike Donald Trump, however, I don't seek to eat it on a daily basis. Because that would probably kill me, and I don't want to die.

37. That's weak

I hate Trump as much as anyone, if not more. But many celebrities and wealthy people have their own security.

For example, a theater composer that I work with has a bodyguard because he received death threats that were plausible. I assure you this man is as liberal as they come and he would never be a mob boss. Additionally, my ex-wife worked at a very high-end private school on NY's Long Island and a number of the wealthier children had security bring them to and from the school because these kids could be kidnap targets. There are many more examples of some people's need for personal protection. I would think Stormy Daniels has a bodyguard and probably Michael Avenatti does, too.

There are many other examples of Trump's mob-like behavior since he is a life-long criminal. Personal security-- especially in today's polarized world-- doesn't strike me as a strong issue.

12. Interesting take. But I still wonder ...

... what motive Putin would ever have to do away with trump. Even as the ownership Putin has over trump becomes more apparent, that simply divides this country and sows more chaos. Thatís Putinís goal, right? trump crashing and burning was likely always part of the master plan anyway.

Putin doesnít care if trump squeals. Heíd take pride in the world knowing he used and controlled him. He doesnít care if trump defaults on his debt. He has already gotten from him what his investment demanded. Thereís no message to send to other puppets. Itís not like a revenge killing of a former spy who turned.

trump is more useful as a disgraced leader with a pissed base making trouble in the West than he would be as a corpse.

What a screwed up little man trump is.

But ... trump may not understand that. So his own paranoia may be exactly as youíve described it.

17. Thanks

You rounded out my thinking. I was trying to keep the post as short as possible.

You are right about Putin both wanting Trump to linger on ( I don't either one really thought he'd get far but he could just throw a wrench into the works) AND not minding if everyone knew he is Trump's master. Also, this could all be from Trump's paranoia as you said.

The third part (to me) is what gets me - Putin doesn't give a shit about casting off someone like Trump regardless of how that's done. It could be in a more civil way. But doesn't Trump know how this could end? He's been around enough to know these types. That's what gets me - what if he really followed Putin to the end? Does he thinks there's going to be a loyalty reward? From Putin? Maybe he has no choice and never did.

Yes the secret service randomly sticks up AF1 before long trips. They just show up at a grocery store and buy up what they need. Totally random. No pattern. It's quite a haul.

I had the opportunity about a year ago to have lunch with someone who retired after 50 years from the WH staff. He started on the grounds crew when LBJ was POTUS. I didn't dig for dirt but he did tell me about the first families having certain quirks about them. Nancy Reagan loved lambs liver (I think it was) so the chef draws up a menu but she decided she wants liver. He would get a Secret Service guy to drive him to get it. He couldn't let the food leave his hands. I asked about the story of Trump asking the WH galley to try to recreate a McD's burger and he cracked up. The staff eats very well at the WH.

maybe not quite as bazaar as the horse head in bed from The Godfather, but perhaps some odd emails or phone calls with hints just to keep the fear of Putin in his cold heart. He knows they own him and can take him down big-time.

And, there could have been something such as a human finger found in a Big Mac at some point, even prior to the campaign. Such events could have happened to any one of his extended family, just to keep him in line.

How does someone so heavily leveraged in real estate survive a crash like 2008? Someone else with a lot of money wants to keep them afloat. That's my simple explanation.

40. bucolic_frolic, that's where my big questions always wind up in a dead end...

is where the big money trail goes and ends. I've always felt there's a layer of extremely wealthy people (many completely unknown to the public) that essentially control the levers of power world-wide. I think it exists in layers, with ones such as Koch and Mercer a step or two down the chain. People like D.J. Trump are just political useful idiots, but ones like Putin are in on the big game.

The most sickening thought of all this to me is that every penny these people control ultimately came from profits from folks like you and I, as we go about our lives purchasing goods and services. And, they turn that money and power against us.

Such people are very opaque with their wealth and business practices and I hope the day comes when that is stopped.

45. With

only a handful or so of exceptions, every royal family that ever existed has descendants alive today. All inherited something, how they managed it, grew it, held it, transferred it is their private business. Some surely, over the centuries, aspired to regain political power, some not. And that's only the political side, there is also the business aspect of wealth, as well as the financial side. So yes, there is not transparency, there is opaque as you say. Real money has been made when there is total lack of government regulation, or monopoly owned or controlled by elites. Since the Industrial Revolution, railroads, energy, even the slave trade fall into that category. Conquistadors plundered civilizations for gold and silver and brought religion to the heathens, who probably thought they were doing fine without any help. There is the 2001 or thereabouts book by Jim Marrs "Rule by Secrecy". It's hardly the last word on the subject, many things published since.

Is the whole irony of it. I mean has he seen his own restaurants? The restaurant at Trump Tower was cited for multiple violations, and Mar A Lago got nailed big time by health inspectors. If he eats at fast food for the "cleanliness" I would hesitate to think what his standards of cleanliness are.

55. Micky D's is a very safe bet, short term.

They control a LOT more of their distribution channels then most food companies, i.e. their beef is bought "on the hoof", slaughtered and processed to their standard. Which is why E-coli contamination happens to other fast food companies and bulk burger processors.

McD's will only "comp" 1 meal a day for employees, because an exclusive diet of the stuff will make you ill fairly quickly, as seen in "Supersize Me". Choose your McFood well, and it's a lot better than the alternatives, particularly at breakfast! A Mc Muffin is a far better choice than Twinkies, or skipping breakfast.

At least, before the election:

Putin

I donít know how community property and wills and stuff work in New York, but Iím assuming that Donald had some way to prevent her from ever getting anything put in the prenup. That leaves Putin and the kids.

Now that I think about it, Iíd probably eat all my meals at McDonaldís too if those were my kids. Iíd trust Putin long before I trusted Uday and Qusay Trump, or their sister married to Prince Pauper.
