Dem burns down 'scared' GOP chairman for using hearings to distract from Russia probe

‘Accountability is coming’: Dem burns down ‘scared’ GOP chairman for using hearings to distract from Russia probe

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) asserted on Thursday that House Republicans are using their power to distract from the fact that multiple Trump campaign staffers are facing charges in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. At a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Nadler accused Republicans of attacking embattled FBI agent Peter Strzok to avoid talking about Trump campaign connections to Russia.

“Why have they abandoned House rules to pick unnecessary fights with you, [FBI agent] Lisa Page, and Deputy Attorney General [Rod] Rosenstein?” Nadler said to Strzok. “The obvious answer is because they are scared, because President Trump is scared, because the special counsel’s investigation is operating at a breakneck pace and has already produced five guilty pleas and criminal charges against individuals, because accountability is coming one way or another and they are scared and trying to undermine the investigation and distract attention.”

Nadler also noted that Republicans are refusing to release the transcript of an 11-hour interview with Strzok, even though some of it has already been selectively leaked.

“And I now call on the majority to release that transcript in full today,” Nadler demanded. “This will show that this entire investigation is, at best, a partisan distraction from more important matters.”

“I ask the chairman now to order the release of that transcript,” the congressman said, turning to GOP Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA). “Will the chairman do that?”

“Not today,” Goodlatte replied.

“Will the chairman ever do so?” Nadler pressed.

“You can direct your questions to the witness,” Goodlatte shot back.

“I will observe that the chairman will not answer the question,” Nadler quipped. “And that this is part of the continuing evasion and attempt at obfuscation.”

“Will the gentleman yield?” Goodlatte shouted.

“No,” Nadler said. “Not at the moment.”

3. Goodlatte insisted on violating Robert's Rules of Order

over and over. And he knew it, but kept plugging at destroying the parliamentary rules system in his "entitled" juvenile temper tantrum.

7. Especially Cicilline

who was sitting on the front row and kept whipping around multiple times, exasperated and yelling at Goodlatte.

I had to go look him up to find out something about him (he was former mayor of Providence, RI).

11. He just lit up the room again

along with the woman next to him - who is Bonnie Coleman, who I didn't realize she is a Congresswoman from Camden, NJ, right across the river from here in Philly.

Gerald Connolly is tearing it up right now reading email after email after email from Republican Congress members that insulted Drumpf!

6. Astounding.

The dems ate their Wheaties today. They've wakened a Sleeping Bear, and not a minute too soon.

8. Yes, it was great

No, I'm not bashing anyone but I do think it's sad that we are surprised by this. They should have been doing this a long time ago.

12. They HAVE been

Do you watch any of the CSPANs when they have hearings?

You can go on CSPAN's website and get the archived copies of these hearings going all the way back to the early '80s.

This happened 4 years ago and was widely posted here on DU -
