I see a Supreme Court appointment in this man's future.....

Authorities: Man told officer he only drank when car stopped

A Florida man told the officer who pulled him over that he was taking swigs of bourbon only when he stopped at traffic lights and stop signs so he wasn't drinking and driving.

Indian River County Sheriff's deputies still arrested 69-year-old Earle Stevens Jr. on June 27 on charges of DUI and driving without a license.

TCPalm reports Stevens told investigators he's never had a valid Florida driver's license.

An arrest affidavit says Stevens smelled of booze. He told them he felt "pretty good" and that he wasn't drinking while the car was moving.

2. My wife worked for six months at the US Attorney's office...

...she was responsible primarily for incidents on the George Washington Parkway. Don't think anyone tried this excuse with her...

4. Actually...

Florida has an "open container" law. Technically you can't even have an empty beer bottle in the passenger compartment, much less an open one at stop lights. It really sucks in a way because your friend can't even drive ya home unless you finish your beer first.

That said, when I first moved here 30+ years ago, they didn't have one. You could crack a cold one and drive if you wanted, as long as you blew below 0.10 (back then, it's been lowered to 0.08). 'Course, doing so was a really quick way of getting pulled over and asked to do exactly that.

5. You could have left the word Florida out of that story...

And we still would have known
