One Hundred Billion Dollars: The Value of the US Born Kids of Asylum Seekers to the Mob

Wonder why anyone would want to send home asylum seekers back to places like Haiti or Honduras or El Salvador where they will be killed? Especially when they have a combined total of 275,000 US born children? Whom they will definitely not want to take home due to the fact that no parent wants to see their child murdered by a death squad. Meaning that if you decide specifically to revoke the visas of those who have fled violence (as opposed to those with work visas) then you have decided specifically to split up families and force parents to leave their kids behind.

Why? Why would Trump and his mobster friends want to break up families? Just to be mean? Yes, he is Scrooge crossed with the Grinch, but this is about lot more than energizing the base at Stormfront. This is about what Trump and his organized crime buddies love best---money.

The for profit adoption industry has fallen on hard times. Foreign countries have made it all but impossible for these baby brokers to snatch children and sell them in the US.

Now, Trump is going to give them access to 275,000 children. All of them English speakers. At the going rate of $40,000 per adopted child, that is a potential windfall of $11,000,000,000.

And then there are the for profit prisons--sorry, for profit foster facilities like those affiliated with Education Secretary Betsy De Vos that charge the government $700 per night to "care" for these kids--that means each child is worth $255,500 a year until they turn 18. Now, this scam won't last beyond the Trump administration, but say that each of those for profit prison/foster programs keeps each child for two years with the federal government paying the tab. If all 275,000 were to go into their "care" that could make the kids worth as much as $140,000,000,000---$140 billion!

Parents are about to be killed and their children are about to be orphaned so that organized criminals can make a windfall at US taxpayer expense. Some of these kids will go to pedophiles. Some will be forced into prostitution. Many will become little more than slaves. And even the ones who are loved and cared for will have to live with the loss/brutal deaths of their parents.

Draining the swamp? Trump and his mob buddies have turned the swamp into the fucking Le Brea Tar Pits--and once caught, these kids will never get out.

1. Kick and kick again, McCamy. The outfits "caring" for the kids - Southwest Key, MVM, and a HOST

of other corporations - are doing right nicely for themselves. And yes, there will be deaths, abysmal neglect, trafficking, and outright slavery (because who, after all, will pick the harvest when the immigrants quit showing up, who will work in the meat packing industry? Young, fit teenagers can get the job done, no doubt about it).

Another thing the mob does which I read about last night: they harvest and sell human organs. As if the kids aren’t facing countless nightmare scenarios already. FUCK.

And I wonder how deeply “security” mercs are involved, too. Little private armies like whatever Blackwater is calling itself these days, TigerSwan, Elliot Broidy’s security company, “Circinus LLC“, ETC ETC. Where do these armed gangs play into this transnational vision of murder and trafficking?

Appreciate this post, McCamy - every day a new horror is revealed and every day it’s harder and harder just to keep breathing. But if those kidnapped children and their parents can hang tough, then GODDAMIT so can we.

2. Oh holy shit, McCamy...from your link:

“Often, the children who wind up adopted through U.S. agencies are passed through multiple hands in a process known as “child laundering,“ making it impossible for even the most reputable American adoption agency to ensure the origins of the child involved in any international adoption. The line between legal, ethical adoptions and criminal activity is blurry at best.

...and your huffpo article is over three years old, ffs

CHILD LAUNDERING: EXACTLY, right in our faces.

I'll admit that I had suspicions about this weeks ago when I first started hearing about kids being taken, but I dismissed it, thinking that no one could really be that cruel just to make a few bucks. But GODDAMIT! The absolute worst pieces of shit in this country are thriving under this administration, and the MAGAts go happily along either not believing it or not not giving a fuck.

3. THIS has been my take....

right from the git-go, exactly as stated. Made even more likely when found out that DeVos agencies were involved in the nocturnal movements of these kids. The babies and toddlers will be adopted out for big bucks. The girls will become free household labor for the rich, and the boys will become free labor period. All the corresponding bad things that attached to these circumstances will take place, abuse, predators, etc. And these republicans did this, want this, are assisting in this. There is a special place in hell for all of them.

...human trafficking for anyone who knowingly participates in trafficking for purposes of forced labor or prostitution -- this offense provides a criminal penalty of up to 15 years in prison.

http://www.ncsl.org/research/civil-and-criminal-justice/human-trafficking-laws-in-the-states-updated-nov.aspx

... The President's Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (PITF) is a cabinet-level entity created by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, which consists of some 15 agencies across the federal government responsible for coordinating U.S. government-wide efforts

This mobster first denies the right to life and liberty to asylum seeker adults, then trafficks their children. He is a menace to the human race.

I never want to be like people who actually believed Hillary was running a child sex-ring from the basement of a pizza parlor. There was no logical evidence for that at all.

This differs in that there is a lot of logical evidence for it.

10. "Child Laundering" - wiki

The US State Department does not consider child laundering to be a form of human trafficking, as it is a non-exploitative result.[citation needed] Furthermore, it is seen as a humanitarian act, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the child.[5] The adoption agencies in the West are operating within a completely legitimate sphere, and have no way of knowing whether they are a party to this human rights violation.[2] Therefore, the United States does not have the jurisdiction to prosecute these agencies working in the developing countries.

I have suspected this since we first heard of children being separated from their parents. Adoption isn't always a "service", it is often a lucrative industry and can be very harmful to the children and their parents. I am always incredulous at what people will do for money.

21. An unfortunate mis statement of facts

1) People who received Temporary Protection Status are not asylum seekers. In accepting TPS status they gave up the right to apply for asylum or apply for visas. Once their status is up they will have no judicial remedy.

2) If an TPS is removed back to their home country they will not lose their custodial rights as parents. It is estimated that 90% of the US citizens have either a parent or a sibling (most of the TPS recipients have been here about 18 years. In any case the parents would have the right to assign guardianship to a relative or neighbor. As the TPS deadline is in 2019 and 2020 there is ample time for those arrangements to be made, and they could even be made out of country.

3) If there are any who don't set up guardianships before they left and actually became wards of the state they wouldn't become wards of the federal government. They would become wards of the state where they reside for the last 6 months as any other US citizen who is a minor would become. The only reason that the children in the recent news are becoming federal wards is because they were in federal custody when they applied for asylum away from a port of entry.

If, for example, an asylum seeker entered the system legally by going through a port of entry and had children that were US citizens and were eventually denied asylum (something unthinkable before Trump, but could happen now) they would not become wards of the federal government but would become wards of the state they were in for the last 6 months and enter the foster system there.

In any case the scenario you refer to of hundreds of thousands of children becoming wards of the federal government simply isn't an option. If they are removed and the parents decided to leave their children here they would retain the right to assign temporary custodial authority but if that did not happen and they became wards of the state it would be to California, New York or wherever the TPS family had been residing for the 6 months before.

It is a terrible situation and cruel and mean, the particular scenario you lay out is not one that can occur for the reasons stated. More information on TPS families (like my son in law) and what the communities face can be found here:

28. its not entertainment, its therapy

Progressives were already living in frustration as we were seeing an irrational fear/hatred of government undermine support for policies, like universal health care, that deliver more and cost less.

Then we win the election but because of the remnants of an 18th century problem of distances and lack of media that installed the Electoral College we have to cede the Presidency to a person that is not only unqualified for the Presidency but who, if you were to conduct a nationwide selection of a prominent person MOST unsuited for the Presidency would be at the top of the list.

And now we see the Republican Party running away from responsibility and handing the keys of the gas station to an arsonist. We are seeing our institutions from the State Department to the CDC to the EPA being degraded.

But the most troubling phenomena is that our political opposites are now willing to argue on what a fact is. Putin used to be despised by these people and now he is our friendly uncle.

All of the rage and anger needs and outlet so we get "Defund ICE" at a group level or some outlandish theory that hundreds of thousands of orphans are going to be fed to the Mafia.

The problem with this particular issue is that Trump is violating morally but within the law. If the TPS holders are deported the remaining children will be US citizens and one of the things that Trump cannot do is to change the way US citizens are held.

The Trumpsters are not too bright but they are learning how to use US laws to achieve their objectives. The stupid Muslim travel ban could have been achieved legally by Trump within an hour. All he had to do is to instruct those embassies to stop issuing new visas. To stop refugees you don't have to pass an executive order you can simply tell the Attorney General to stop issuing parole numbers to the Refugee office.

They don't have to sabotage the law they can just stop doing their jobs.

So with all of that frustration we get a lot of FU or F them threads and a lot of angry posts that, like this one, have no basis of fact in them but makes people feel better by agreeing with it and rec ing it.

29. Thank goodness only 25 thousand kids are in danger

That changes everything.

I don’t have to add the sarcasm emoji do I? We have already seen what happens when the feds throw immigrants into for profit prisons. Their kids also go into for profit prisons. Or go missing. Since many of the parents affected by this ruling will attempt to run and hide they will become fugitives and when they are caught they will find themselves without rights. They will be just like people caught at the border. Exactly like them. Almost as if Trump and company are not accumulating enough prisoners by simply waiting for them to arrive on our borders so now they are trying to make those within our borders into outlaws, too.

Oh, and if relatives try to claim the kids they will be told to hand over thousands of dollars in handling fees. And while that is going on, the kids will be lost.

31. Your complete misrepresentation of the facts undermines credibility and hurts the message

Your sarcasm is completely self indulgent, it doesn't help the TPS holders.

Now here is what I have done

1) I started researching and posting about this in May, long before the Washington Post published Schneider's letter.

2) I went to the Indivisible demonstration at 110 degree in Tucson and afterward I asked to meet with the organizers, which we did here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10385015

They were polite but sceptical

3) I then went to the next demonstration here:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/10385036 and in the 110 degree son I pulled away the head of it (after the second hour) and brought it up again and by this time he had done a little research and was more interested.

Oh by the way at that demonstration I recruited more people to join DU here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10385015#post1

4) After the Schneider letter came out confirming what I have been telling everyone I can get to listen to saw that it was being confirmed by the Washington Post and became VERY interested.

We are now working on

a) Getting the ACLU in Tucson to confirm the facts, especially the point that there is no judicial review
b) I have offered to find TPS affected families in Tucson who can speak at the next indivisible event
c) I have contacted the two leading Democratic Congressional candidates offices and started to explain the facts to them
d) I have contacted two Tucson reporters and started to get them interested.

You sarcastic reply demonstrates one thing very clearly, you think this is all about you and your post.

It isn't

If you cared about the issue you would delete your OP in order to not spread more misinformation and cause more harm

And here is the kicker, you still don't understand the problem or how the institutional process is going to affect them.

Its not 25 thousand children that are going to be separated from their parents, you had the best estimate of 273,000. What you have gotten wrong is a) they are not going to go into federal custody (they are US citizens) and b) Trump is not going to be selling them to the Mafia.

The number of actual people affected however is over a million. Everyone in those families is going to be affected including the 230,000 that are going to be sent back to countries that they haven't seen in decades.

Today they are legal. In about 1 1/2 to 2 years they will become illegal even though they have done nothing wrong.

I encourage you to get the facts and post but even more important contact the Indivisible people in your area so it becomes as well known as DACA because today even the leaders of Indivisible and the Care for the Children are unaware of a problem that is 100 times greater than the 2500 that were separated at the border.

41. Gee ProfessorPlum since we are ouraged lets just make things up, that is a big help, or we could . .

actually do something that is relevant and helpful to TPS holders.

The insidious part of Trumps removal of the Temporary Protection Status is that he is not breaking the rules but he is using a law that had broad bipartisan support in a way that was never intended to create massive hardship for hundreds of thousands, they just aren't selling kids to the mafia.

There will be no rescue of the TPS holders by the ACLU. In that way the situation is much worse than the OP indicates (except for the whole selling 250,000 minors to the mafia thing). The only recourse in 18 months is the Ann Frank one, families taking in other families until a new President comes to office, there is no judicial recourse.

Here are the factual inaccuracies

1) These children, unlike the ones separated at the border are US citizens. The Trump has no more possibility of "grabbing" them to sell than they have of grabbing your children.

2) Even if the TPS holders are repatriated they don't lose their parental rights. There is a year and a half for all of them to assign their custodial rights to other relatives. I know this because this isn't some BS jerk off topic to rage against Trump for me, its my family, so months ago we contacted attorneys to get the facts.

3) Even if the TPS holders failed, for whatever reason, to transfer their parental rights and an underage US citizen was left without custodial care and became a ward of the state, they would not become, as the OP hysterically claims, wards of the federal government but rather of the state they resided in the 6 months before they became "orphaned".

I have been working on this for the last several months (see post 31) and it has been very difficult to get even the NGOs working on the 2500 children of separated asylum seekers to focus on the problem. When you tell them that there is another group that is on the time clock and will be losing their legal status and 250,000 children will face the possibility of being taken from their parents who are forcibly repatriated they don't believe you.

It takes repeated meetings and explanations of the TPS orders and how they work before they begin to trust you. If article like the OP start spreading and get quickly laughed out on SNOPES it makes the effort to get people tuned in to the actual facts more difficult.

I have been posting about the TPS crises since May which has been almost completely overlooked by the media. I can tell you when Schneider's guest column at the Post was published I got half a dozen calls from people that I have been talking to since May asking for more details. In post 31 above I detail what I have been doing.

Good news ProfessorPlum there is no possibility that the US Citizen dependents of the TPS holders are going to be picked up in black helicopters taken to dark locations and auctioned off to the Mafia.

The bad news is that the orders for over 320,000 TPS holders have already been rescinded and they are on the clock and will be made into illegal immigrants over the next 18 months and there is no judicial review possible.

The only possibility is that we inform tens of thousands of concerned people WITH THE FACTS can we hope to prevent a tragedy that will affect over a million people.

So, ProfessorPlum you are now faced with the actual facts of the situation what are you going to do beside post satirical distractions?

My suggestions

1) Contact your Democratic Congresspersons office (or candidate if your rep is a Republican) and ask to brief them on something that is 100 times worse than the current separation issue. Take the Schneider article.

2) Contact your local indivisible group and make them aware of it. None of the indivisible leaders I talked to were aware of it before I contacted them. Talk to them about incorporating the TSP issue in the next protest. If you contact the local Catholic Social Services RAIS office you are likely to find someone who is in daily contact with TSP communities and help you find someone to talk at the rally.

3) Contact your local paper and ask to meet with the reporter who covers politics and immigration to give them some important background information. Show them the Schneider article.

Now that you have the facts what are you going to do? I can tell you that one meeting isn't going to have an impact. You will have to persist and meet repeatedly with them. If you do take these actions, even just making one call to your Democratic congressperson's office (or like in my case the Democratic candidate) then those of us that have family members who are TPS holders will be grateful.

Recognizing the possibility of extra-legal danger these families are in is a valid and important exercise - especially if we wish to prevent it.

And no answers are forthcoming from anyone. Only lies and obfuscation.

24. The elephant in the room is that the repuke party is full of pedophiles and perverts.

Money is one of their motivators, yes, but SEXUAL PERVERSION is an equally driving force.

Betsy DeVoss and anyone else who is profiting/has profited/will profit from these innocent souls should be tried at the Hague, locked away from society until they die and their bodies buried in a common tomb with a permanent plaque describing their atrocities so we will always remember.

25. Imagine...

if all of the Americans who drive to Canada or fly to Africa or Europe every day were suddenly imprisoned with no hearing (or perhaps a cursory, meaningless one), their children taken from them and flung out to different parts of the country with no guarantee, indeed not even a process, for eventual reunification, and no records anywhere about where parents and children end up.

If this was being done TO rich, white Americans instead of BY rich, white Americans it would start a war--easily. And it should!

Count me among the soldiers on the side of terrified parents who just want their children returned to them.

40. Need to share this.

Thanks, in a way. This situation is extremely disturbing. Because of the pernicious nature of the details, I fear that this story will not receive the attention it so deserves.

Heartbreaking.
