Senator Collins will not back anti-abortion Supreme Court nominee

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-abortion-collins/u-s-republican-collins-i-will-not-support-anti-abortion-supreme-court-candidate-idUSKBN1JR1KR?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5b38e69f04d3017c222e4594&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook

The comments by Susan Collins, a frequent Senate swing vote, narrowed the path to confirmation facing any nominee Republican President Donald Trump selects to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who is retiring from the high court.

“I would not support a nominee who demonstrated hostility to Roe v. Wade,” Susan Collins told CNN’s “State of the Union” program, referring to the 1973 landmark abortion decision.

The players in the Supreme Court game have spent a lifetime carefully wording their writings and statements to avoid any committal on this and other controversial issues. Likewise, their confirmation hearings will be maddeningly obtuse.

Collins will make her vote in the affirmative saying something to the effect of " I saw or heard nothing that indicated a hostility to RoeVWade" She will have the deniability she wants and the Conservatives will have their justice.

The rest is just a circus to satisfy the vast majority of the Country that never really pays attention. It is the veneer of fairness and due diligence and means nothing.

won’t overturn Roe v Wade so she’ll either fudge the issue and vote for his nominee — or Manchin or Heidkamp will.

she'll do as she's told, because that is who she is.

If they told her to, she'd vote "yes" on someone who promised to re-institute literal slavery as would every member of their party in congress.
