Michael Avenatti Says He Has 'ZERO Interest' in Running for Office

by Amy Russo | 12:01 pm, July 1st, 2018

In a set of tweets Sunday, Michael Avenatti announced he would not seek to enter politics despite the encouragement he’s received for a career change.

“I am extremely flattered by the suggestions that I attempt to become AG or run for the House or Senate but I have ZERO interest in those jobs,” he said, adding that he feels there are “too many” politicos already.

In a follow-up tweet, Avenatti affirmed his commitment to “exposing the truth about Mr. Trump’s conduct and fighting like hell for the principles that matter so the American people can decide what happens next.”

Avenatti entered the spotlight as the personal attorney for porn actress Stormy Daniels, who is waging a legal battle against President Donald Trump over a non-disclosure agreement regarding their alleged past affair.

Can you clarify?

FYI - I don't think that he should run for office, as he very good at what he is doing now. Politics is 90% administrative, and he wants to go after people in court.

1. They have a sincere desire to help their fellow citizens or a sincere belief in a cause they want to push forward.

or

2. They are narcissistic, power hungry, idealogues who don't care who they step on to attain their goals.

He can accomplish #1 by remaining in his chosen profession

He is not #2 as far as it seems.

Besides, it's hard to drive a race car with a secret service agent hanging on the hood.

I think he's wise to stay out of politics and continue his stint as a public advocate and democratic voice.

We really need to stop focusing on the personality du jour and look at our own membership for leadership abilities for this critical moment in time.

President Obama gave some very sound advice the other day: stop looking for a 'savior,' or concentrating only on those who speak in poetry, people with the ability to inspire vs the ability to lead. We're going to need someone with demonstrable leadership qualities, a woman or man who knows how government works to put this run-away train back on the track.

Personality politics has proven utterly disastrous.

Give me someone with a political track record of toughness and soundness. Someone with a good understanding of DC and the levers of power and knows our national history inside out: the good, the bad and the ugly. Give me someone who demonstrates she/he can tap into the pulse of the country (the majority, not the craven few), utilize our strength, our voices and hearts, then work like a dog to turn things around. For everyone.

Avenatti has been a great morale booster. But for President? I don't think so.
