Trump deal for Wisconsin Foxconn factory cost taxpayers $4 billion — and it is already downsizing

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/trump-deal-wisconsin-foxconn-factory-cost-taxpayers-4-billion-already-downsizing/

On Thursday, President Donald Trump boasted about his triumphant arrival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to celebrate the opening of the Foxconn plant, an electronics giant that’s promised to bring thousands of jobs to the state.

“I am in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for meetings. Soon to leave for a big groundbreaking for Foxconn, which is building a great new electronics plant in Wisconsin. 15,000 Jobs, so great!” he tweeted.

The Foxconn plant opening has drawn skepticism from economic analysts who suggest that the $4 billion package of incentives from state and local officials is not the best use of resources.

There are also concerns that the projected job growth might be overblown.

That's a job for every 360 people in Wisconsin.

On top of that, their current numbers show only 89,200 people unemployed in the state, so this one company is planning to hire 17% of everyone currently unemployed , and lower the UE rate to 2.33%?

No economist without a prior agenda would believe those numbers for a second.

... since Foxconn about 20 minutes across the border, and they are fixing/upgrading I94 so they'll have a smooth ride there.

That those jobs are going to Wisconsin-ites is BULL. Plus job numbers and the "average" salary includes all the execs and programmers they're bringing in from China.

What you say makes sense, but:

That's even if we include the far north parts of IL. And the UE rate in the northeast octant of IL is already super low. (Admitting, of course, that the population of that area is VERY high.)

I'd bet $20 that they will never approach 15k jobs. (And i'm not a betting man!)
