Said a former senior White House official: They dont really see eye to eye.
The president has cooled on Mattis, in part because hes come to believe his defense secretary looks down on him and slow-walks his policy directives The president is now more inclined to rely on his own instincts or the advice of Pompeo and Bolton.

(2,647 posts)like a business. Only wants flunkies at his side.
And the cowardly republicans are all sitting on their hands and not doing a damn thing about him.
It really must suck to be a republican.

(7,768 posts)He admits that he would go to his office each morning with no agenda or plan for the day.
He'd make and receive phone calls and just see what happened. He goes with his gut (he has the BEST gut!).
Remember, he bragged about being a stable genius!
Now he wants to get rid of the judges, the courts and the rule of law.
We are SO screwed.

(62,517 posts)hitler was exactly like this. he had this delusion of being "chosen" if you will. that only he had the insight and knowledge that others lacked. that he was a genius. he surrounded himself with halfwits and sycophants and thought them all loyal, yet when things started turning south for him, he would sack (kill) people left and right as conspirators and incompetents (sure they were incompetent, but they were always that way) and would assume more and more power.
and of his generals who cautioned him early on in the war, they were all eventually replaced and killed. because they lacked his kind of "vision".
in the end, as he always did, he blamed everyone, especially the Jews, for all his failures and losses rather than his own blatant incompetence.
