So according to the media, the 20something year old gunman moved into that house last week

and it isn't far from the Sikh temple. The landlord lived across the street. I wonder who was paying the rent - looks kind of big for a 20 year old. He also has a 9/11 tattoo.

I have to agree with the Sikh on CNN now when he raised the point about the level of ignorance re religions in America.
Still I find the general Sikh comment that they are targeted because people think they are Muslims quite offensive. No People should be attacked because of their religion.

It's creepy, really. If this attack was on a Mosque, it would be quite a different story in the media and online.

particularly when it is dismissed as the norm by people from other minority religions.

Being the grandmother of Muslim children, it makes me cringe whenever I hear someone say "but Sikhs aren't Muslims."

The thinking seems to be you are either a christian or you aren't, and it doesn't matter what the aren't is.

Part is ignorance part is fear.

Oh to add, when people dismiss it, today Sikh (or whatever is the target) tomorrow it's you.

Usually wakes people up.

how he thought he wasn't one of "them" that carried out the attacks so wont be blamed.

but how he was getting a lot of attacks because of course he was brown so you are "one of them". but he did learn the wider lesson that it would not be ok even if he was Muslim . and that it shouldn't happen to other muslims.

For a long while the local news was broadcasting shots of a neighboring house as trees obscure the overhead view.
