Jesus Christ! Three straight days of nothing but wall to wall coverage of the immigration story! This is disgusting.
Yes I know the immigration story is very important. Maybe it even requires 30 minutes per hour. But THEY ARE NOT COVERING ANY OTHER STORY!
The freaks in the White House are doing 100 terrible things every day and no one is covering it.
MSNBC: Move on to other stories already!

Watch the Big 3 daily news...mainly snippets for morons followed by weather reports...followed by cute animal videos...and of course occasional bows to the military...but not fake news.
Flake news.

(58,724 posts)You'd think they could cover a wider array of stories instead of having the 5PM show be basically the same as the 6PM show and so forth.

Jacob Soboroff took it over and the dam began to burst on this. Republicans who have spoken in opposition are doing so to save their seats, cough cough Ted Cruz.
Despite other shit taking place, this remains center stage on the sheer cruelty of Donald Trump's journey to Authoritarianism.

(43,166 posts)There are plenty of people in the real world who are covering every single angle of what this administration has done. Whether or not that gets news coverage is completely irrelevant.
I can tell you for one that Robert Mueller is doing his job regardless of the news cycle.
In the meantime this is in fact a huge news story so if MSNBC wants to cover it, theyll cover it.

There is plenty of journalism out there to read, NY Times, Washington Post, Daily Beast, AlterNet, etc.

(5,934 posts)The issue has turned more Republican-leaning friends on Facebook against Trump than any other issue I've seen. And we need to protect these children and make sure this doesn't happen again. People need to understand how cruel the Trump administration really is and this issue is doing that.

The actions of our current leadership is abhorrent to families. No one in our country should turn their back on families at the border.
Have you seen any pictures of troops in RVN carrying vietnamese children out of harms way? Check out the circumstances of the pictures.

(83,728 posts)Rep Barbara Lee has asked the UN to send observers to investigate President Trumps zero tolerance policy. These practices are a blatant violation of human rights and a stain on America.

This is a human rights violation! This is not as you seem to dismiss it at just an "IMMIGRATION STORY". This isn't a story. This is children being ripped from their mothers breasts and stolen from their parents. It is called kidnapping and trumpty dumpty is using them as political pawns for his fucking wall.

(1,301 posts)I agree with you. Its always the same with news channels these days, one huge terrible thing happens, which of course should be the top story with plenty of coverage, but the whole world does not stop. There are other newsworthy stories, and much of the coverage is more opinion, than news. Dont get me wrong, I want to hear the opinion of journalists I respect, but its very repetitive and there IS time to at least highlight a few other things.

(15,805 posts)We are only in the first stages of discovery, the full scope of Trump's inhumanity is yet to be revealed.T he tragedy of what has happened to these kids will not be denied, it is a huge event of worldwide historic significance that has brought international scorn and and censure down on our country because of Trump's cruelty. To our shame, the unfolding story will be memorialized in future textbooks and reams of investigatory reports.

(32,679 posts)The US government caused irreparable harm to thousands of children, who may never see their families again. The fact that assclown trump, his AG, HHS, etc. are still walking free after this blows my mind. He issued a fake executive order yesterday that was effective in confusing and dissipating the momentum that had built up to stop him. Looks like he truly can do whatever the fuck he wants to do, with no consequences. There's no story bigger than this right now.

(13,081 posts)An Arab Spring in Syria backed by the CIA? American-backed coups and death squads in Honduras and Guatemal? All those three things really nova bell? Those are arguably way worse things were doing right now than what were doing to refugees.

(10,429 posts)they should not ignore the story of president pussygrabber's child-snatching. But it's not the only thing happening. And where is this endless outrage when children (American children at that!) get blown to shreds by gunhumpers? They move on from that quickly enough.
Again, they should not ignore the story, but while everyone is covering that, who is covering the story of this week's republican bill which strips 1.5 TRILLION DOLLARS from social security and medicare? Thom Hartmann covered it on the radio, has it been mentioned at all on TV? Republicons plan to pay for their 1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR gift to corporations and billionaires by stealing our social services. Is that OK? I don't think so.
tRump is the shiny object that keeps everyone's attention while Mullah Pence, Lyin' Paul Ryan, Mitch McChinless and their accomplices destroy this country. Don't forget that!

(30,540 posts)issues that are really important that are being totally ignored. Seems they could devote one segment to global warming or any one of a dozen other important pending issues on one show. We get hour after hour of the same story on every show, all that's different is the talking head repeating the same thing. I heard that the ratings have slipped on MSNBC, don't know if it's true or not but if it is it's no wonder.

(37,364 posts)the story included coverage of protests. I see them cover a variety of events and issues. These refugee children's plight very much gets at basic human rights in stark relief. Both stories are parts of a greater issue.

(50,255 posts)On the other hand, I blame MSNBC for being a big part in why Trump won. During the campaign they covered him almost exclusively - like a reality show that never ends - and ignored Hillary. At the moment, the GOP and Trump are severing ties with allies, cutting safety nets, killing voting rights and destroying the environment. I would like to see some of that covered, too.

Our candidates are running on issues like that on the local level. Outrage over what Trump is doing to America must be stoked, but we can't campaign on that alone.

It has to be resolved while there's still time to interview anyone who had contact with the kids. ICE agents, airline personnel... any witnesses to any transport. Someone who remembers what one kid was wearing... were they alone or with a sibling...
THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION!!!! NONE!!!
