...in any way, so soon.
Trump doesn't just fold without pressure, and he's basically deaf to criticism. Hell, he was just yesterday delivering a full-force defense of detaining these children apart from their parents.
There has to be something coming out that he's trying to head off with this hollow act, ostensibly altering his own despicable policy. I think the wall they put up between the press and their internment camps is going to fall, revealing even more atrocities.
It's inevitable that the ugly truth about conditions in these internment camps is going to come out, and think this move by Trump is an attempt to deflect the coming firestorm when horrendous images come out of these facilities and full access is given the press and legislators.

(44,997 posts)The world needs to break into these concentration 'facilities' and find out what's really been going on. We need bright sunlight on all this.

The fact that he and his minions have been justifying the policy and insisting that the only way to change it is for the Democrats to agree to legislation including full funding for the border wall is irrelevant to him. And what will happen to the 2500 or so kids who have already been separated?

Not that it's child abuse. Just that it doesn't look good for the brand.
Fuck all of them.

(85,986 posts)...the story about these children is still developing.
We don't know half the story about the condition of these children and their detention facilities. There won't be a moment for some kind of victory lap with reports of atrocities still dribbling out.

His words are meaningless. His actions are what we have to watch.

(25,244 posts)I would like to see the order...
Is he going to stop charging and detaining parents.
Will he allow processing at the border?
Will families go to joint facilities like they did with Obama?

Trump never simply gives in - he gets his stabs in always.

(82,849 posts)But about a year ago, someone observed on twitter that no matter what you first hear about the Trump administration, when the whole story comes tumbling out, it's always worse than what you first heard.
Torturing and abusing children and babies is very, very bad. I hate to imagine what's worse, but if past performance is any indication, we're going to hear about much, much worse. Because it's always worse with these people.

(85,986 posts)...we'd be fools to not look behind this announcement for whatever he's hiding.
Chances are, it's something that's going to spill out uncontrollably, no matter what.

(12,344 posts)He pretends to be strong, but he always backs down in the face of real pressure. Always. He files lawsuits and says he never settles, hoping the other side will fold. If they don't fold, he settles.

And then, there's the polling, a no-win for the Trumapster and his enablers. For the Donald this is all transactional in nature; he incarcerates babies and then he gets his fu*king Wall.
Morality, empathy are signs of weakness. The Monsters are busy backpedalling.
Never forget, never forgive.

(10,654 posts)The GOP and their corrupt administration bear the sins of this dark period in our country. There must be consequences for their evil behavior.
