I do not say that as hyperbole either...assuming your point is possible (which it is), then the extension is also a further mistreatment of this captured and incarcerated children. How do you ramp up from kidnapping and jailing children? You either execute the parents summarily or you kill their captured children for maximum horror. Either way is the path our current government is on...and I warn everyone to not think "there's no way they would do THAT..." any longer. There is quite literally NOTHING that they won't do...

A two-pronged outrage approach to try and protect the principles of a coup the court of popular opinion. Remember, Bannon wants to destroy the Constitution as it is, to reform the country into an Authoritarian Oligarchy similar to Russia; minimizing the benefits of citizenship and an equitable rule of law.

Trying to get out in front of the actual crimes that can be prosecuted with a horrendous situation that requires immediate attention to fix. If they can't gin up a war to distract people, they can throw the Nazis out in front of them to get them a bit more time to fix November's election and tear down democracy as we know it.
They're betting on outrage exhaustion on the Democratic side.

5. I disagree. Sure, we obsess over Mueller's work, but most people need a simple emotional story.

Trump has now provided the simple emotional story: "Republicans are Nazis. We kidnap babies and throw them in concentration camps." This will swing millions of voters who weren't paying much attention before.
