The Separation of Migrant Families Is an Early Step in Dehumanization

of those migrants. Atrocities against human beings almost always begin with an effort to identify those humans as "less than human." Whether it's race, national origin, religion, or some other identifying characteristic, those who would commit atrocities issue propaganda designed to dehumanize that group of human beings.

Once that is accomplished, the authorities can freely treat members of that group in ways that would be considered unacceptable if other people were treated that way.

Dehumanizing migrants or any identifiable group of people is the first step in enabling genocide. It's incredibly offensive that our own government is engaged in that dehumanization process right now.

GOTV for the November Election! Please! That's our only hope to end this process.

1. This is how the Nazi's did it...and hubs and I were horrified when we learned of the child deaths

in Ireland...church and state involved. His aunt gave birth to an illegitimate child who went into care...we will never know...but the first step is to dehumanize people. We must fight this with our last breath if need be.

2. Exactly. Genocide demands that a group be dehumanized first.

10. It is far too easy for people to look the other way, when they are

not personally threatened. That is how tyrants gain power and perpetrate atrocities. It is never too early to stop tyranny in its tracks.

3. No, the dehumanization has been going on for quite a while. If they had not already

dehumanized them, they could never do anything this cruel to them--ripping children from their parents' arms, caging them in what are essentially dog kennels, not helping parents locate their kids even after they've been released, deporting parents without their kids and letting months go by before they can find them and get them back.

4. Yes, it has, but it's still an early step.

In a way, it's a test to measure whether the society in general will tolerate this inhumane abducting and imprisonment of children. If that is tolerated, the authorities will be empowered to take other actions. It's a process.

6. Yes. Trump is deeply involved in this dehumanization effort.

He is leading it and supporting it from his "bully pulpit."

We must never forget that as we approach another election. We must regain control of Congress now. If we do not, we may well lose the opportunity to do so in the future.

8. Dumpsters aren't human.

No normal humans do the things they are doing to minorities and migrants.

The unity of this country is riding on the midterms.

9. Not only the unity of this country, but

the legitimacy, ethical standards and global reputation of this country are at stake. We must win in November and halt the efforts to destroy those things that are already underway.
