The last time I was THIS concerned...okay, worried...about the future of the U.S. economy

Last edited Tue Jun 12, 2018, 02:27 AM - Edit history (3)

was after Bush and Cheney brought the U.S. to its' knees in late 2007.

At that time, I was driving one+ hours each way to and from work, and listening to the reports about what will probably happen in the next few years...it was distressing:
- small businesses will be shutting their doors pretty quickly.
- large businesses (and few will survive) will be closing stores and laying off workers just to keep in business.
- the U.S. auto industry won't survive
...and that was on the corporate owned radio stations—forget listening to any "honest" liberal stations—the news was worse!

Then, little by little, President Obama began putting bandages on everything (what a relief it was that he was at the helm), and we survived. It didn't get nearly as dark as those radio stations were saying...but it was touch and go there for a while—I was seriously picturing the 1930's soup/bread lines!

But here I am again (here we are again): the Republicans are in COMPLETE control, and we're on the verge of who knows what. I can honestly say it feels worse this time, because it seems like WWIII is looming, and we're the bad guys (not to mention we have a completely inept person at the helm this time).

So...
WTF do these people use for brains?!! They vote these asshole GOP freaks in time and time again? But time and time again, it's the same broken record.

2. K&R, republicans have repeated what they did in by 2002 also; spiked the economy with inorganic ...

.. growth adding greatly to the national debt and removed a bunch of regulations.

There's little reason to believe that this crap wont happen again seeing their past record

3. Precisely. Republicans deliberately juice the economy, and try to keep it aloft...

for at least four to eight years. That way, every Democratic administration has to spend at least four years just to right the ship-- and then they make no friends, having to be the party-spoiling adults who take away the car keys, enforce curfews, etc.

Sorry for the extremely mixed metaphors.

4. Their tactics are working

To transfer even more wealth from the middle class and poor to the wealthiest people in this country, and take all health care away from us, and now their sights are set on Social Security to destroy just like they're doing to the ACA. People voting for that and another economic recession , or depression are to lazy to know or look up the truth. They're voting against themselves, for these billionaires to profit from them and haven't a clue. They're already talking about giving them even more tax cuts so they can gut Medicaid more, Medicare more, and make Social Security their own piggy bank to rob from , or like W did steal money from our accounts we've paid into. You don't take 1 1/2 trillion out of Medicaid , and Medicare , and make premiums skyrocket for people with the ACA then it doesn't badly hurt the economy. You don't drive the deficit up over a trillion dollars higher without hurting the economy, and trade wars, real wars, and immigration without hurting this economy badly. You don't jack up oil prices from $40 a barrel to $70 a barrel without hurting the economy, or from immigration crackdowns where food prices are starting to rise rapidly from crops rotting in their fields without hurting the economy. Its all going to come crashing down on them, and all their BS and bravado will not hide it, or fix it this time.
