4. Hi syringis.....

Glad you agree. My husband was in a blind drug study and died suddenly, I can't say it was the cause and yet can't say it wasn't . I'll never know. I'm so against this.

6. I'm sorry for your loss.

Of course, I agree with you, 100% !

Alas, we can't avoid the medical experimentation on animals and humans. Not yet, maybe in the future. Well, I hope we will someday.

Looks like your husband was in a study that complies with ethical and legal requirements. What Trump is allowing, is a complete aberration !!

It is simply criminal, no less !

See my answer to Mosby.

5. Hi Mosby

It is a huge problem.

The experimental treatments obey a very strict framework.

To allow a patient, who by definition has neither the objectivity nor the necessary distance, to resort to experimental treatment is an aberration!

Among other things, because of the loss of the randomized nature of a study, a sine qua none condition if any, and the fact that the door is opened to possible shortcuts and abuses, in the name of profit.

7. While this bill on the surface may seem like a good thing

It's patients who will be hurt by this. Yes, they will have the ability to access experimental treatments, but they will forgo any liability claim rights and while a very small percentage of patients will benefit, many will not and the winner here will be the pharmaceutical companies.

I wholeheartedly support the ability of patients to have access to experimental treatments, but this bill, at least what I've seen of the fine print, isn't designed for the benefit of the individual patient. That doesn't even touch on the fact that if these experimental remedies are under study, there's no guarantee that the patient will receive that particular treatment, that's just the nature of a double blinded study.
