negative comments like "i will hold my nose"

"she is weak"

"democrats are weak"

The more you hear that means OTHERS are hearing it the same way they heard MILLIONS of KGB tweets attacking you know who.

I want to shame those who are attacking the ONLY thing standing between us and ACTUAL FULL ON FASCISM.

Thanks again.

isn't working. We need to stand strong. Take them head on. Horns to horns. 2018 and beyond is going to be messaging and combating the bots.

Winners:
DCCC
Medicaid expansion
Black Democrats

Losers:
The GOP mobilisation strategy
Our Revolution
Georgia Republicans

72. This is revisionist history. The current news clearly shows where the divisiveness

came from, who started it and why. We don't get to recreate the actual events that led us here. It is not divisive to stick up for Democrats and diffuse the attacks on our party. THAT is not divisive.

74. This is not political litmus testing to diffuse attacks on our party

by those who wish to impose litmus tests. You can't have it both ways. If you think Democrats aren't good enough because they are not socialists, then that is a divisive litmus test.

If everyone stuck up for our Democratic nominee, we would not have Trump. You can't have it both ways. This actually explains why sticking up for our nominee is so important....

77. Exactly. The far left is part of our party. "Our Revolution" is

a new and divisive creation meant to deal with issues and not candidates, so they aren't actually part of our party by their own definition. It is not divisive to point out those facts about the individuals who use Democrats.

I was even referencing the Russian groups who exploited these divides that were created by outside forces. But you are exactly right about providing that clarity.

what they dislike, or sometimes even hate, in themselves onto the party, race, nation they identify themselves with? Of course.

What's weaker than whining and complaining while stabbing resentfully at one's only hope? And trying to disguise weakness and whining with yelling, insulting, punching walls, even threatening other people physically doesn't fool anyone who's raised children.

Like every day I hear pundits scream THE DEMS HAVE NO MSG THE DEMS ARE WEAK, and (almost, when I have the stomach for it) everyday, I turn on cable news and see Dems getting talked over, or not on, or hosts acting thick and asking the ridiculous questions, and the next day, back to shouting. NO MSG, WEAK.

That's the right wing echo chamber, for sure. Wash rinse repeat. We don't have to add to it.

So I agree, ER. Enough fun and games with trolls; letís toss them out so that we can concentrate on the positive.

23. Fuck the goddamn Debbie Downers. . .

. . .in my neck of the woods, the Democratic Party has eaten the GOP alive in the elections
of November 2017 and a special election this April.

It has been a massive uproar in my county, with the GOP losing a 2-term county executive and being left with but 4 of the 17 seats in the county legislature. Also, my state senate district was gerrymandered since 2012 to favor GOP candidates - and they've lost to the Democrat every single time; the last one being a special election to replace the outgoing state senator who had just ousted a 2-term incumbent and one-time gubernatorial candidate to become the new county executive.

Thanks to fresh blood in the local Democratic party groups, plus the work of Indivisible chapters throughout the county, well, the Democrats in my area are definitely part of the blue wave.

And constantly saying unhelpful things like "Dems are weak," "Dems are wimps," "Dems always fold," etc. etc. These are the types of smears I see on this site on a regular basis.

Constructive criticism should be welcomed for all Dems, the party and those who align with it. But "Dems suck" is not a discussion of problems or weaknesses. I believe that is what Eliot is discussing in his OP.

Compared to the GOP, Dems have not been weakened all that much.

I'd rather decry the evil influence of private money than call the Dems weak, but I damn sure will call out those of our representatives who are swayed by big donors.

The right-wing echo chamber gives the GOP the illusion of strength, but their monolith is brittle and unable to respond to the concrete needs of voters. Dems are still willing to do work.

I think it is weak when football players are forced to stand for the national anthem. Yet I consider myself patriotic.

I generally oppose high profile generic calls for displays of loyalty. I might have reacted differently had you posted something specific. For the purpose of illustration I'll make up an example. If you had posted "stop calling our party leaders weak for not embracing impeachment now" I would have instead given a rec to your OP.

Criticism is WARRANTED. This is the party that LOST 1000 state seats, numerous state houses, etc. ALL UNDER OBAMA's watch. How is that not worthy of criticism?

To say nothing of the fact that numerous democrats just voted to allow banks to destroy the economy yet again. And others have voted for Trump's appointees for some stupid reason.

It wasn't Dem leaders that dropped the ball in Obama's midterns.

It was the 'don't give a shit' lazy voters who took it all for granted, when the Party needed their votes.

Who left the Party vulnerable?

Here is my OP on that:

I was making the case for getting the answers to the question you ask, and then using it to target Democrats who usually only vote in Presidential years to get them out in November (after flushing out the Trumpsters among them).

Here is the resource link I posted in that OP:

60. I repeatedly defend Pelosi here, most recently today

Here is my latest post defending Nancy

Here is the OP I posted here in June 2017:

63. Great!

I'm so tired of the constant round of posts bashing Pelosi. There's one on LBN right now.

62. Thanks, yes this is nonstop but if my math is good it seems only about 20% are doing

this garbage, attacking our party.

Problem is every time they say something negative it is heard by others.

Oh, did you see this?

It worked so well for him last time. And our R government is doing nothing to stop it.

83. "My Party, far more often right than wrong"

From my post above.

For all practical purposes there are only two consistently viable choices for voters; the Democratic Party or the Republican Party. In order for our democracy to function as it should it must be a participatory democracy. I chose to participate, and once I made that choice I understood that it takes work to keep any political party functioning. So I do grunt work for the Democratic Party. I choose to do at least my share, to help the party I affiliate with remain viable. Believe me, there is no glamor in being a committee member at a local level, just responsibilities and a lot of usually tedious tasks. Our committee organizes the local caucus where candidates for local offices are selected. I have run those caucuses in a fair and neutral manner, and honor the decisions made by the Democrats who attend.

Sometimes that means working on behalf of some local elected or nominated politicians that I am less than enthusiastic about. So be it, that's not unusual. But I of course reserve the right to withhold my personal efforts on behalf of anyone who I have extreme reservations about. In practice that has never happened. It was a no brainer for me to support Hillary for example once she had the nomination. The same is true on a local level. But I won't check my opinions at the door when I go to a Democratic meeting.

97. I'd be happy to have you as our committeeman..

It's a lot of work, I know because I've often helped our local chair. She would prefer people leave their opinions at the door, but to her credit, is too smart to make that public. She's said it to me and I've advised her to let people speak. She does, and it's been a good thing, keeping all the support we picked up in 2016.

People have real issues with the influence of corporate money on political parties and candidates, and they should; it's the very root of all evil in American politics.

91. Lots of people think their views are legit.

That's not what this is about. For instance, lots of people think ratf**king is legit, and then they blame others for what they purposefully brought about.
