President Donald Trump over the past 18 hours or so has been pounding out tweets and making remarks to the press that are filled with lies.
How is this different from any day of the week that ends with "y" you ask?
Here's how:

Trump is insisting that under President Barack Obama's direction, the FBI and possibly other federal agencies, embedded at least one if not more spies into his presidential campaign with the specific purpose of working to help Hillary Clinton win.

There is exactly zero evidence to support these lies.
Trump doesn't even attempt to offer any, aside from "quoting" various Fox News personalities.
He also quotes former United States Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the man whose new book says Russia's efforts swayed the election to Trump.

But those lies become facts in everyone's mind - yours and mine included - unless we wholly discredit every word he utters, every tweet he posts.
And that's just too hard for most.

2. That's the entire point...

Trump is NOT talking to us, the people who post and read DU. He could care less about all of us, in fact he probably wishes he COULD shoot us just so he would hear fewer dissenting opinions about him.

Trump is saying these things BECAUSE they play into the false narrative on the right that President Obama was illegitimate - by birth, by race, by policies. They spent 8 years attacking him for EVERYTHING, literally everything he was / is better than Trump at...writing, orating, comprehension, style, class....you name it.

The right wing mind works in a very binary fashion...everything is either Super-Awesome or Mega-Awful and nuance is incomprehensible to them. President Obama MUST be the least competent, worst person in human history or he is on par with their moron Trump in their view. Trump KNOWS this...he is a disgusting pig-man and unworthy of the office he holds, but he is smart when it comes to running a long con and getting what he wants by influencing the fools and ignoring the rest.

The press is so tied up in the ratings that non-stop Trump gives them, that they are essentially his 'berry at this point (for those who do not get the reference, listen to "Dope Man" by NWA, circa 1988 - its a crack whore term). Trump is not looking to influence people who oppose him, only to control the thoughts of enough people who support him to make cheating and stealing elections still possible. They stole the presidency by manipulating 80,000 votes in 3 states despite losing the overall vote by 3+ million...never forget, the things he does are NOT normal and NOT intended to be understood as such.

Trump is still running the campaign, only now he is simultaneously looting the treasury, destroying the New Deal, killing Health Care reform, screwing the tax code and ballooning the debt...all while alienating our allies everywhere not named Israel, losing trade leverage and access to markets and basically making a mockery of the institutions that were supposed to protect the Republic from this ass clown or his ilk.
