1. It's a great deal harder for the US to sanction transactions done in Euro's rather than dollars.

3. This won't be the first time this has occurred (or the thought has)...

I seem to recall that some of the other oil exporters may want non-dollar payments and the like, in the past. I think everyone's getting tired of the dollar constantly going down in value, especially w/ RUMP in power, it's gone down 10% plus or minus in value since RUMP's election, which is one reason why everything seems to cost more. MAGA!

Dripping w/ sarcasm here....drip drip drip!

4. The EU can negotiate, but this is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak

If you are selling oil, you can demand it be paid in whatever currency your heart desires. Tradition has oil sales done in dollars, but there is no ironclad rule anywhere that demands it. It helps us because it keeps demand for dollars on the world currency markets high, and there is a serious storm brewing in Italy with some of their major banks at the moment that is making holders of Euros understandably nervous right now. It could all change, of course.

5. Isn't this one of the "hidden" reasons we took out Saddam?

IIRC, Iraq was threatening to sell oil in Euros instead of dollars, and we can't have that, now can we?

11. That was the last straw...oh and the truck loads of money

W gave him 48 hours and Saddam loaded up flat beds and trailers with cash and gold and such.

Whoa whoa whoa said Dick/W if we're going to pull a heist ALL the goods need to be in there.

Shock n Awe started almost immediately

6. I can only find this from a Russian news source.

"Im privy to the information that the EU is going to shift from dollar to euro to pay for crude from Iran, the website of Russian news channel RT said on Wednesday, citing a diplomatic source who spoke to Sputnik news agency."
