saying Fox never put up such a graph. Any idea where I can find the original broadcast or some proof it's real? I mean, something that would convince this woman who thinks of herself as "reasonable."

So I'm thinking it was July 31st, 2012. Per Yahoo Finance,

S&P500 closed at 1379.32
DJIA closed at 13008.68.

Looking at foxnews.com, O'Reilly himself airs at the 8pm hour -- eastern time. Dunno how to find specific video, though.

most automated graphing programs will do that. They are typically programmed to accentuate the differences, not portray true relationships.

It is up to the presenter to reformat the graph in a way that displays the info accurately, or as in this case, present it in a way that influences one's audience.

This is only a 4% increase on income that exceeds $388K.

So let's say someone made $400K. The effect of an additional 39.6% tax bracket would only be 4% on $12,000 worth of income, or $480. This really only affects people who have millions of dollars in yearly income.
