Interesting piece on HuffPost re: NRA membership
According to their poll, only about 8% of gun owners are members. And some of the responses to "why" are interesting.

1. Makes one wonder
Why are the 92% of gun owners who are not NRA members so cowed by this terrorist front? Where are the non-NRA gun owners' voice? Why don't the popular media seek out non-NRA gun owners and publicize their opinions?

2. The impression I got from the article
is that, for most of them, guns are not a political issue. They're mostly interested in hunting or target shooting or collecting guns. And some said they don't need the NRA to protect their right to own guns - the Constitution already does that.

3. Almost every male I see daily over the age of 15 ownes a gun
Maybe 2 are NRA members. Most are pretty comservative but there are way more liberal dems than NRA members in that universe.
Edited to say probably half the girls and women over that age do. None are NRA members as far as I know. |

4. Yeah, but gun manufacturers don't give campaign contributions through the NRA to
politicians that support gun regulation.
