3. He's says he just sought legal advice

Was never represented by Cohen, nor did he pay him (except 20 bucks?)

31. I've never met a lawyer who would even accept 20 bucks.

They bill by the hour. Twenty bucks you give away. You can't give twenty bucks worth of worthwhile legal advice in the time it takes to ride an elevator to the third floor.

4. My guess is that Hannity is a client because:

1) He paid for services rendered;
2) He paid by check and not cash;
and
3) It was reported to the IRS as income and thus, traceable.

37. They will deny, deny, deny...until they're exposed.

Happens every time. Like a cheating spouse, you just deny it all until you can longer deny it. Then you feign contrition and find Jesus and beg for forgiveness. Just watch.

Hannity is an idiot so why he denied is anyone's guess. But watching him squirm sure is fun.

10. They're both making self-serving statements.

Cohen is trying to look more like an actively practicing lawyer with multiple clients and trying to keep as much of the seized evidence protected by attorney-client privilege.

He surely has some documents marked "Hannity" that he wants the government not to see.

Hannity wants to be seen as having nothing to do with this Cohen ship that's going down. He's trying to spin it as ok, maybe I once asked him a real estate tax question but that's it.

One possibility is that Cohen has a file of all the lies and smears they've leaked to Hannity over the years. Hannity might not even know about this.

20. If that's the case, why would Hannity deny being a client

Since being a client is the only way that information remains subject to attorney-client privilege protection.

13. Whether he paid him or not

Or had a retainer, when an attorney gives legal advice, a relationship is established.
That's why lawyers carry malpractice insurance. So if somebfriend of a friend corners them at a party, and then claims an attorney client relationship, they are covered.

But with Cohen and Hannity and Trump, I wouldn't underestimate the arrogant idiot factor.

14. Cohen and Hannity have competing interests now

Cohen wants to make it seem like he is a lawyer practicing law regularly so he can better protect Trump and his conversations with Trump. Hannity wants zero to do with this at all, his interest was to keep his name out of it.

They’re both probably lying. Cohen wasn’t a lawyer recently, he’s a fixer. 99% chance he wasn’t merely giving Hannity real estate advice.

26. Cohen told the judge Hannity was his client

Hannity said he was not.

Therefore Cohen lied to the judge, which carries severe consequences or, Sean Hannity lied.

Which is it?

32. Hannity changed his story

Said he handed Cohen $10 one time so they would have attorney client privilege. So Hannity is saying he is his client, but it was just casual advice about real estate. And if you believe that I've got a bridge to sell you.

More likely is that Hannity had a problem with a woman he slept with and Trump gave him Cohen's phone number. They at least talked about it and Cohen said he'd take care of it for him if it got to that stage. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't get to that stage, but with the evidence the prosecutor has, if Cohen laundered the pay off money from Hannity the same way he did for the other payoffs, it's going to appear in an indictment.

0% chance Hannity was just asking about some real estate. 50% chance Cohen paid off a woman for him. 100% chance Hannity is lying about something in relation to he and Cohen.

He probably has a file on everyone he wants. My speculation is that he set smuck Hannity up so his douch bag lawyer could find out embarrassing info or to go as far as set him up in a criminal situation for coercive purposes.

17. Poor hannity

too stupid to see the forest through the trees.

By denying Cohen is his lawyer, he decimated his client privilege claim. If Cohen wasn't his lawyer then there is no privilege between them. He seems to have remembered that later when he said he gave him $20 for real estate advice. That claim looks to me like he is buying himself some time to hide his assets for his impending divorce.

...Hannity hired Cohen who, in turn, hired private investigators to dig up dirt on MMFA because they led a sponsor boycott again Mr. Thumb.

27. Cohen's attorneys claimed Cohen's "clients" deserved protected communications

They then had to come up with a "client" to back-up their claim. Just trying to save face. Didn't quite work out. Just dragged someone else in.

29. Hannity denied it because of conflict of interest clauses in FOX contract

He's admitted to being a "long time" friend of Cohen, but never revealed him as a sometimes lawyer. Pretty sure Fox has some boilerplate clauses re: conflict of interest and lil Sean has just been outed as being in violation.

Note: Sean's 1st instinct is to cover himself without any recognition of the scope of the problem this has revealed.

39. My guess is Hannity is denying it because he's not under oath.

My guess is Hannity is denying it because he's not under oath.

His demographic will has believed him in regards to lies about Seth Rich, Benghazi, immigrants, the AHCA, etc., so there's no real downside to his consistent dishonesty.

If he is placed under oath, he'll admit to being a client. Until then, he'll simply keep saying whatever brings in ratings.
