***BREAKING: Judge Rejects Trump's Request to Review Seized Cohen Materials***

A federal judge on Monday rejected an attempt by President Trump and his longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, to block prosecutors in Manhattan from reviewing a trove of materials seized in F.B.I. raids last week on Mr. Cohen’s office, home, hotel room and safe deposit box.

But feeling her way toward a resolution of the clash involving Mr. Trump and prosecutors investigating Mr. Cohen, the judge, Kimba M. Wood, signaled that she was considering appointing a special master to assist prosecutors if and when they cull through documents seized in the raids.

4. A "special master" was what Cohen requested and Trump refused...

I guess it would depend on who got appointed. I really don't see the need for additional layers of oversight beyond the standard "taint team," myself.

6. From what I understand

they had already set up a "dirty team" and a "clean team" to handle the materials from the very start.

"Tiny hands created much Taint." .....

Sean Hannity should be fired from Fox News. It’s unethical, unprofessional and a violation of all norms of reporting for a journalist not to disclose his personal or financial interest in a story he is covering."

He'll have a fit and destroy something else the Dems put into place.

12. Its easy to figure out what Trump is going to do

You actually could do the same thing

He is going to watch TV for the next 5-6 hours and then start again at 5 am for another 4 hours

Everyone in the whole world knows this, allies and enemies both

Mueller and his team and the FBI and the intelligence community and the leakers are all part of the Executive branch.

22. In that light, very true and well said....

but, ultimately the courts will have to take Mueller's ball and complete the game. Unfortunately, if an impeachment hand is dealt, we're in the hands of a divided Congress unless our Blue Wave sweeps both chambers.

Much has been said about the theoretical wall of separation between the Executive office and Justice, but tRump seem hell-bent on destroying that tradition.

Regardless of the outcome, severe damage has been done to the GOP and I think that will get worse. However, our electorate seems to have a very short memory.

18. It's a shame that every time a new person gets involved, we have to consider

we have to consider whether he's a Trump lackey. Will the master of the docs be like Rosenstein? Or more like Sessions? Or like attorney Robert Bork? Trump has his "people" everywhere. He even had Hannity and a whole news organization as his mouthpiece.

"He loses in court, so now he's got to go kill some brown people"

Syria state TV does not specify who may have fired the missiles at the Shayrat air base but Pentagon says there was no US activity in the region

And, most likely supported by the Pentagon. Maybe a chickenhawk response to right-wing criticism of tRump not doing enough damage with the recent U.S. strike.

28. IMO the Special Master idea should be quashed.

But then again. If I understand it correctly. The Special Master keeps a log of what they keep or don't keep. Which might become public.

29. Trump Org. Lawyer showed up for the 1st time at Cohen hearing

I think since DT shouldn't even have a finger in a business interest as president, then executive privilege shouldn't be able to be exerted...time will tell...

“For the first time, Trump Organization attorney Alan Futerfas appeared in court to present his interest on behalf of the Trump family’s sprawling real estate company.

Futerfas requested that the company be allowed to review all documents seized by federal agents that relate to the Trump Organization, so that they “can help the government make privilege designations.”

REPORTER'S NOTEBOOK 04.16.18. 6:56 pm - Talking Points Memo

The Inside Story Of Michael Cohen’s Day In Court
Michael Cohen’s Monday afternoon hearing at Manhattan’s Daniel Patrick Moynihan federal courthouse drew much heavier crowds than his initial hearing last week thanks to two special guests: Cohen himself and adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The first glimpse of a stern-looking Cohen came at around 1:30 p.m. as he moved through the lobby, flanked by his attorneys, past a long line of reporters and interested members of the public waiting to ascend to the courtroom on the 21st floor.

Daniels didn’t arrive until later. As the audience took their seats and the hands of the clock on the courtroom’s back wall crept towards 2 p.m., reporters kept turning around in their seats to see if she would turn up as her lawyer Michael Avenatti had promised she would. At around 1:59 p.m., the door peeked open and a guard could be seen telling Avenatti, “We’re full.” A pair of sky-high heels were visible through the crack.

After a few moments of muttered negotiations, the security team shifted a reporter to a different seat and in walked Avanatti and Daniels. Though Cohen didn’t turn around, every other eye in the room was on the pair as they took their seats in the corner. One of the in-house court reporters seated in the jury box stood up to get a better look, and two of the female court sketch artists donned what looked like opera glasses to get a clearer view of their subject.

The next dramatic moment came when Sean Hannity was revealed to be Cohen’s mysterious third client. As I reported, the judge ordered Cohen’s lawyers to disclose his name in open court immediately after they failed to prove “at all” that his identity should be treated with special care. After Cohen attorney Stephen Ryan stood up and gave the name, the courtroom broke into gasps and murmurs, and a contingent of reporters rushed outside to share the news.

Another notable incident: For the first time, Trump Organization attorney Alan Futerfas appeared in court to present his interest on behalf of the Trump family’s sprawling real estate company. Futerfas requested that the company be allowed to review all documents seized by federal agents that relate to the Trump Organization, so that they “can help the government make privilege designations.”

The various parties were met with a swarm of cameras when the hearing finally wrapped up at 5 p.m. Shutters clicked as Daniels and Avenatti departed in a black SUV. Passersby snapped photographs of the chaos on their smartphones, and one woman muttered to her friend, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
