Trump's miserable crew has never been so desperate - By Joe Scarborough

By Joe Scarborough April 13 at 7:45 PM

These are desperate times for the quislings of Trump. The cost of collaborating with President Trump in the continued debasement of American democracy is becoming far too high. Fifteen months into his presidency, Trump has seen a national security adviser, a former campaign chairman, a foreign policy adviser and another high-ranking campaign official face charges of serious crimes. This week, the president must have felt the walls closing in even more tightly around him when FBI agents searched the home, office and hotel room of his longtime personal lawyer, whom associates call Trump’s “fixer.”

The president’s response to the Michael Cohen search, duly authorized by an independent federal judge, was to reflexively trash law-enforcement officers, undermine the rule of law and slander a Vietnam War hero who has committed his adult life to the service of America. By now, of course, few should be surprised by the depths to which Trump sinks when attacking law enforcement personnel. But this week provided insight into just how desperate Trump and his courtiers have become in their defenses of an indefensible administration. The president promoted a Fox News show via Twitter that starred a steady stream of sycophants who slandered special counsel Robert S. Muller III.

Mueller, who led a Marine rifle platoon in Vietnam, has been awarded a Bronze Star, two Navy commendations, a Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After being shot through the leg, the young Princeton grad continued leading his troops in battle. Later he would continue his service in Vietnam even after he was given the opportunity to go home.

Such bravery and dedication to the United States could never have been shown on the battlefield by the miserable crew who lined up to attack the special counsel.

Despite playing tennis, golf and football during his college days, Trump took five deferments, four for college and one for bone spurs in his feet. On the day Trump graduated from college, 40 Americans were killed in Vietnam.

1. I know a lot of folks despise Scarborough, and with good reason. But I wish more GOPers would speak

out NOW, even if they did help trump get elected by being quiet or moderately supportive.

5. This

I don't agree with Scarborough on much - though I do think there can easily be some common ground as we've seen on gun control for example - but I keep hoping that he'll be one among many from the small c conservative side that will be speaking like this. So far it's just a very small number unfortunately.

9. Its a smart strategy for Dems to take advantage of these reformed Republicans

who claim to have (at least temporarily) repudiated their evil ways and have seen the light. So, let's use them, put them up on the bully pulpit and push them to speak out publicly, denounce their shameless fellows who have been forsworn and corrupted by Trump's Cult of Personality.

Encourage Scarborough and the other tamed down Republicans to abuse their rabid Republican cohorts and chastise the ignorant voters from the airwaves. Make use of them while we can, until they change their spots again, as you must know they will, and return to their evil ways.

7. Joe is a dishonest fraud

Maybe not as bad as the constantly lying Hugh Hewlitt, but anyone who repeatedly says "Trump is a life long Democrat" is a political con artist.

10. He's not a journalist and he's a terrible talk-show host

On MSNBC where the bar is set pretty high for journalism, Joe Scarborough is easily the worst "non-journalist" on the air. As a talk-show host he steals screentime from his guests, argues with them (and not in a friendly tone) and he can't seem to share time with his own partner. Frequently MIka is shown sitting next to Joe silently nodding her head and not saying a word.

Why would anyone want to be a guest on his show? I don't get it. Scarborough spouts off like he's the #1 guest on his own show, and nobody else matters. It really gets tiresome.

The show would improve greatly if Scarborough pre-taped his 10 minutes of "spouting" time with no guests on, and then let Mika take over the hosting duties. Have her run the show where Joe is one of the permanent guests.
