Farm labor is getting scarce.

Most likely your food prices may go up this summer.

Yes, some prices will rise, like lettuce and specialty greens that have limited self life, but we already import so much produce that the effect California produce shortages used to have does not exist to the same degree today.

As long as McDonalds and KFC can churn out Midwest, cornfed processed shit shaped as food, the average Trump supporter won't give a fuck.

Nunes's district which has a lot of farm land is conservative and told MMSNBC that they were fake news during an interview (attempted interview). A few months ago when the news anchor went with Janz, the Dem opponent, around a town in their district they didn't know much about Russia and didn't care. Their district needs scarce state water for their farms and cheap as well as cheap labor (normally it has been undocumented immigrants) which the hypocrites are opposed to being here at all.

Maybe the GOP voters will have an intelligent thought for once and realize they are screwing themselves with their hatred but I doubt it.

a mistake. When that failed, POW!

You really need to watch the full movie. It's predictable, but there are some great scenes. That movie was released in 1974. Here we are 44 years later going through the same old undocumented workers crap. Only in the movie, there were white people who needed the work. This time around, the white people are above that kind of work. Still shitting on the "Latins", though.

employees to work for them since none are very reliable, hard working or can't pass drug tests so they prefer undocumented immigrants. They don't usually mention that they probably pay undocumented labor less but I am fairly certain that is a factor too.

I had forgotten about the fact that last year Donnie DooDoo raised the cap on the number of seasonal work visas by 15K because agriculture was having trouble finding workers.

There is so much wrong with our agriculture. I'm becoming more and more in favor of small farms selling at farmers markets. Big agriculture is not sustainable. You guys in CA have water issues. People tend to forget that the bread belt relies on the Ogallala aquifer, and that is being rapidly depleted. When that water is gone, we will have Dust Bowl II.

one a zillion things that will be the first changes that will effect a lot of people financially, whether it is in the US or elsewhere. I am so grateful that the moron and GOP are taking this so seriously.

The future looks pretty bleak if they are allowed to continue on their path. Of course don't tell their constituents that. Their future is all rainbows and sunshine if they vote for the super rich. That is what Fux Ruse has been telling them for over 20 years and look how well off they are.

illegals gal immigrants back to their home Country. His BIG NEW PROBLEM occurred when the crops ripened the farmers couldn't find ANYONE to work the fields and the food rotted away. Our Governor learned to ignore all those bigots who insist we get the illegals and "our people" will do all those jobs and he worked out some agreement with the immigrants and Georgia's produce has been fine ever since.

IF Ca. doesn't work some arrangement with the harvesters, "a lot more than your state will suffer" because your state grows so many different crops to supply people of the USA AND many other places in Europe, Mexico and more.

MAYBE the leaders in your State will learn from others who learned by experience and not have to experience the disaster themselves!

The workers can come for seasons, earn money, then go home knowing that they can come back the next harvesting, soil preparation/planting, or pruning season. The only industry the visas would not work in is dairy farming, where workers are needed year round.

2 acres of land, a 20-bird breeding flock of chickens, a handmade 10-ft greenhouse complete with electricity, nearby woods to hunt, a well, woodburning stove, and tons of edible landscaping and fruit trees in the yard. Just a few more years and I can afford solar panels and a Powerwall.

I'm as ready as anyone for Trump fucking up our food and economic systems.
