Cincinnati MFOL update.

Good crowd this morning in front of City Hall for the start of the march. I'm bad with estimates but think of a full city block, 4 lane street + sidewalks completely packed with some overflow into the intersections on each side...2k maybe ??? Crowd size probably diminished due to the weather predictions - 4-5" of snow (that didn't develop) and the actually weather (cold, rainy just starting to shift to snow).

Several speakers - local HS/College students mostly. Ethel Guttenberg spoke so warmly about her granddaughter Jamie who took a single bullet to the back in Parkland.

She brought tears to the crowd's eyes as she talked about Jamie's work with underprivileged students in the area, sharing her dance talents.

She brought boo's from the crowd when she shared the results of her outreach to Senator Rob Portman and Reps. Chabot and Winstrup. Portman and Chabot haven't even acknowledged her request to meet - particularly galling since Portman went to grammar school and high school with her son-in-law. To her credit, as a well known local HRC supporter, she gave Winstrup credit for meeting with her...she disagrees with his message but, in her words, at least the guy had the human decency to look her in the eye...express sympathy for her loss and honestly tell her they the two of the disagree on the actions to address the issues.

And she brought silence from the crowd when you asked for a moment of silence for all the victims of gun violence. You could hear the snow hitting people's jackets.

And now we march.
