This might also explain why Hillary Clinton has been so disliked, by some, over the years. It is very possible that Hillary Clinton is hated because she is an ambitious woman. A man with Hillary Clinton's resume and personality likely would have sailed to victory in both 2008 and 2016. I realize that if Hillary Clinton had won in 2008 she would not have been able to run in 2016. My point is that if Hillary Clinton had been a man she might have won in 2008. A man with a record similar to Clinton's would likely have then won in 2016.

(89,241 posts)she was treated as a joke as she should have been . but Trump was worse and a bigger joke than her but their treatment was different. Trump was taken seriously and normalized where Palin was not .

(47,437 posts)she was considered a capable governor, she ran against the interest of oil companies.
Which I think is why the selected her but she ended up way over her head.

(118,499 posts)are scared of all the females who will vote after #METOO and Trump. Female voters are who the GOP are bleeding. New female candidates are running everywhere. Don't let them destroy the timing of this. The time is now. Women will be enthusiastic voters no matter how the GOP try to dampen it down. Don't help them. Hillary admits she is not a strong politician in terms of communication. If Pelosi had been running for president instead, she would have won. She is a great communicator.

(47,437 posts)her father was from that area, Biden is from that area. Yet, on election day a voter from that area said that a president should be a man.
One person admitted it in front of the camera and you can multiply it by, I don't know, a factor of 200? and we have the answer.
Same with Pelosi. Also add the factor that she is from San Francisco, a place considered a most liberal, again, anathema to many Trump voters.

(11,726 posts)It is ingrained in many people's minds that men are inherently superior to women and any woman that displays traits that somehow should only belong to men, are vilified. Men have painted themselves into a corner. A very powerful and privileged corner, but because of how narrowly "masculinity" is defined, there is little room for strong, confident, ambitious, aggressive, intelligent women. They must be destroyed to preserve the territory that men have tried to carve out for themselves.

(51,567 posts)loudly in my kitchen as if I were right there in that audience...very powerful!
If Hillary had won she would have been obstructed by the GOP for being a woman as much as Obama was for being black. I believe this in my core. The GOP would be like piranhas feeding upon fresh meat.

(19,187 posts)ego-maniac, self-styled dictator, Russian controlled traitor in the White House and they can't kiss his ass fast enough. Trump is totally unsuited to be President, he's uneducated and incurious about government, but he's AOK with Congressional Republicans. All because he has a (tiny) penis.

(19,187 posts)That's so totally gross, and if it weren't so funny (and probably true) I wouldn't even discuss something like that.
