Boycott worked

I live in a rural VA county with only a few cafes or restaurants. Except for one excellent mainly seafood place (that's open only three nights a week and you can't get out of there for under $80), all are mom-and-pop greasy spoons.

A guy who owns a restaurant in Richmond recently re-opened a place that closed five years ago. Initial reports were that the food and service were okay, which is not bad for our rural area.

HOWEVER -- several local Democrats reported the three TV sets in the place are on Fox 14/7 and the owner refuses to change them. Six weeks ago, a couple of our Democratic Party ladies (both in their late 70's) visited, ordered, and sweetly asked if the owner would change the channel, or, turn it down. He raised almighty hell with them, went off on them about "you damn liberals," told them it's his TV and he'll do was he damn well pleases.

We Democrats decided to boycott him.

He closed yesterday.

I hate to put someone out of business, but, goddam it, it's time these assholes learned a few lessons.

When I was little, across from Bailey's Crossroads, there was a small airport with single engine planes and no paved landing strip. It was where civilization as we knew it ended. Now look at the place! Apartment complexes and shopping malls. When I was growing up there was no such thing as a shopping mall. Tyson's Corner was the first, and it was a revolutionary concept at the time.

and not just b/c of his political beliefs. I personally never will talk or question a customer's religion or politics. Once in awhile when I'm at someone's place working they will end up talking politics and whatever they believe I will act like I agree w/ them if I need to. Once had a guy telling me how he could see Trump going down as 1 of if not the best President ever. It took everything within me to bite my tongue, but it's always been my rule, you dont argue with customers b/c I'd rather continue to take their money then try to debate them, especially since they're not going to listen.

And side note, I always find it funny how these hardcore conservatives feel its their duty to take on the world and they have a pompous attitude about "you liberals" when its not like they want to see an opposing view themselves. Just run your restaurant and make money, its not your job to convince people to become conservative.

Some guy built it and it took a couple years to finish. It was a 50's type diner and out in the parking lot with a drive up where cars could drive up with car hops like way back. That area was used for car club meetings etc.. Good food and nice staff etc..

After a while a pic of the owner with John McCain showed up on the wall behind the register. The French Fries were renamed to Freedom Fries, the waitresses uniforms changed to dresses so short they couldn't safely lean over a table. Subtle anti-union crap started.

Now I live in Maxine Waters district, heavy union and Democrat majority with lots of longshoremen who like to eat. The business dropped way off and he went out of business.

Anyone who insists on shoving their politics down their customer's throats is stupid beyond words....on many levels.
