Here's why Romney will NEVER release his tax forms, and why we need to keep hounding him
byBlack MaxFollow
Clear enough. Mittens is likely guilty of voter fraud, by living in California (or perhaps New Hampshire), owning no property in Massachusetts, yet voting in the 2010 election by claiming he "resided" in his son's unfinished basement. He's denied it, and though I'm not a Massachusetts political junkie and therefore know few details about how he's managed to fend off the charges of voter fraud, he's so far managed to dodge the story almost entirely.
The tax returns, along with showing just how unethically and unpatriotically clever he's been in sheltering his Rmillions from Uncle Sam and the IRS, will also prove that he resided legally in California when he trundled his rich ass back to MA to cast an illegal vote for Scott Brown.
Mittens: one of the very small number of Americans who actually did commit voter fraud. If I'm not mistaken, the form of fraud he committed in Massachusetts is a felony.
That's why he won't release them, and that's why we need to keep hounding him about it. We also need to accuse him of voter fraud, using the info above, and keep after him to disprove the allegation by releasing his tax returns.

(5,756 posts)There is no way you will ever make me believe Mitt's son's unfinished basement was his primary residence. With multiple mansions to choose from it strains all credibility and bends the might to think he'd live like a college student.
Like I said in the title - For what? One crummy vote. This is why voter fraud is so rare at the ballot box. As the opponents of the draconian voter ID laws have pointed out voter fraud at the ballot box is such a low-yield, high-risk crime it just makes no sense to do it. You're very unlikely to turn an election in this manner because it would take so damned many people voting fraudulently to make a difference.
As we've seen, the real fraud is in disenfranchising voters through the ID laws and in tampering with the black-box voting machines. The yield is so much higher through these methods and with the complete lack of traceability and transparency in those voting machines the risk is low. This is where the payoff is. Not in the onesy-twosey level at the ballot box.

(25,816 posts)It is absolutely inconceivable that Mittens would live in an unfinished basement. I wish someone would blow this story up before the election. As mentioned upthread, this has been around for a while. Why hasn't this gained traction?

(4,820 posts)I live in a resort neighborhood and many of my "Neighbors" own several residences scattered over the US. When you inquire about where they actually live, its gets very twilight zone like. Most are claiming Florida or New Hampshire as they have no or little income tax there and these guys all have big un-earned income and don't care about property taxes. They make big gyrations to get to Florida for enough of their time so the other states cannot claim they owe taxes to them. New Yorker Magazine had an interesting article about a guy going to court to prove he wasn't in New York City more than 150 days. New York City has a big city earnings tax and the guy was fighting to save 20 million in taxes. The guy hired a secretary to do nothing but keep track of where he spent each hour so he wouldn't go over the limit.
Ah, the rich. Just like you and me but with a lot more money.
