No matter the result, one thing made me proud today

My 18 year old daughter voted for the very first time.

And her first ever vote was to send a message to Donald Trump by voting for Conor Lamb.

An experience for her that I really hope is rewarded tonight.

9. Congratulations

For raising her right! that does not always mean voting Democratic. It just means choosing the best person.

I have listened to Conor Speaking about what he stands for.

The other guy was just spewing more hate last night. What killed me was him evoking hate of God in his rant.

10. My first election when I turned 18

was in 1980 and I voted for Carter...it must have been an omen of what was to come for the rest of my voting life.

13. My first election when I turned 18

was in 1976 and was happy that Carter won that year. I thought at the time that I knew how to pick the winners, but then Reagan won four years later and I didn't vote for him...how did that happen?! It happened again with Bush, twice, and I've not been that depressed again until November 2016.

27. Me too - my first vote

I was already 22, but the law was still 21 in 1968. I actually canvassed in a very Republican area of NJ for him. Needless to say, the woman I went went with and I were not met with many positive comments!

I hope she feels the joy of a victory as well!

Both of my children cast votes today for Conor Lamb as well. I voted shortly after the polls opened and hubby will be casting the fourth vote from our household later this afternoon.

24. dccc came through - hope it helps....

from wapo 202

-- The DCCC made a stealth investment in the race to boost Lamb’s candidacy, reports McClatchy’s Alex Roarty. “The group’s multi-pronged effort totaled more than $1 million and included significant investments in field staff, NFL-themed digital ads, and a last-minute get-out-the-vote effort to pull Lamb across the finish line. It also included a nearly $450,000 infusion into the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, money used to fund voter outreach. The assistance belied what the group has said publicly about the race, when officials claimed that Lamb had raised more than enough money … ”

30. Good for her. I wonder how coming of age during

this profound national crisis will affect her and many others as citizens.

My first vote was 1974 midterms, and there must have been some drama because it was the first one after Watergate and Dems got large majorities, Jerry Brown became governor, but really, things just seemed mostly as they were supposed to be. 1976 was my first president, Jimmy Carter, and the last of the New Deal era, but we didn't know it.

31. Good for her. My first vote was for John Kerry for President

I was still 17 when Al Gore won the popular vote including Florida and they gave it to Bush to set the precedent for stealing elections. Every vote matters. And your daughter's vote is a very important one.

33. The young people

may be the ones to get us out of this mess. Your daughter's vote is something to be proud of. Where I vote is just outside of Carnegie. There were people in front of me, which is unusual. Was told that the number of people coming in was steady. I really have been enjoying the Republican angst around this election....all of that money that they spent!

I was so excited. I promised myself that I would stay up until they announced the winner. Of course, that didn't happen that night. My next presidential vote was for John Kerry. We all know how that turned out. I hope your daughter's first vote outcome is better than mine was.

36. And that's why the big picture has to be the focus

Your daughter and her generation will save the nation from future Trumps, as the Silent Generation and its bigoted tendencies moves on.

We may be 10 years away from the tipping point. Keep that in mind.

43. My first vote was in 1976 in a primary....

(US Senate seat) was for a candidate (Democratic, of course!) whose campaign I worked on in school. He won the election, and opted to ride a plane to a victory celebration on election night. The plane crashed, killed him, his wife, the pilot, and his two children. Needless to say, it was an AWFUL "celebration"!
