I promise you. This is not going to happen. It will likely be hyped up for the next few months. But it is yet another one of Trump's spectacular distractions. It will not happen. NK's entire existence at this point hinges on having nukes. No one will mess with them because of that. Even though NK hasn't been able to successfully launch something, that doesn't prevent them from driving a lead-lined truck to somewhere. This is the fear. Being able to get nuke level isotopes is extremely difficult. NK knows this.

(43,049 posts)They have conned Clinton, W and Obama into false hopes by understanding them better than we understood the Kim family.
They discovered that they can't bully or scare Trump, so they'll pretend to kiss his ass and see what happens. This little sideshow gives Trump yoooge bragging points and they're hoping he calls them his good friends, just like everyone else who kissed his ass and threw up into a towel in the next room while the rest of the world laughed.
Nukes are really lousy as weapons-- their use throughout the Cold War was simply that they existed and nobody wanted to take the chance that they might be used. The tinfoil going around for a while was that no nuclear weapons existed-- Hiroshima and Nagasaki were elaborately staged fakes and both us and the Soviets were just hoping the other side didn't actually get them to work, while giving us all an excuse to avoid WWIII.
North Korea learned that lesson well. It never has to actually launch a bomb, it merely has to threaten that it could launch a bomb and that will keep everyone from invading. And that's really all it has.

They will use this as long as they can. They will play each other.
