Anyone Suspicious That Russia Is Somehow Involved In This North Korea....

thing? Is Putin pulling some strings to help Trump? Kinda attempting to take the onus off the Mueller investigation?

2. Lots of us. Pure speculation at this point. But Putin does seem to be helping

Trump in all sorts of ways.

6. IMO, this Korea gambit may not end well for Trumpy.

Kim senses a weakness. Trumpy has no S.K. ambassador, few high level State Dept. people who specialize in N.K. He'll flatter Trumpy (who said that he admired Kim for his treachery and authoritarianism) and have Two-Scoops eating out of his hand. Trumpy knows nothing about Korean culture and history, but likely will think he can go it alone with Kim because he's the smartest man on the planet. He knows nothing about their recent history of negotiations. Hopefully, Mueller's bad manners will make Trumpy cancel the affair and we'll escape by the skin of our teeth.

and peace is at hand. But I just heard on CNN that North Korea was upping it production in its nuclear reactor(s) this past week.

14. I said in another thread that Kim found that he can't bully or scare Trump, so...

he's going to try to kiss his ass and give him a yoooge "win".

NK conned Clinton, W and Obama, so they probably don't need any Russian help to run rings around this idiot.

It’s hard that tell what’s going on here but the whole thing is weird for sure. Especially the announcement at the wh with no American officials participating.

7. yes, NK and the Tariffs also . he is attacking the EU the most when talking about Tariffs

we know who is behind that.

the only policy issues he focuses on and tries to actually push are the things directed by Putin.

8. Sigh. Lots of people praising Trump over this.

And his approval is going up. I feel like this is a tactic to get him to win in 2020, and it may actually work. Our country is so insanely stupid.

9. 2020 Is Still A Long Way Off But....

this might be a Hail Mary to quell the Blue Tsunami coming in Nov 2018. Trump knows (and Putin as well) what would happen if the Dems win control of the House & Senate. Trump & the Repugs need to maintain their power or Trump & the Repug Party are toast.

15. His approvals are going DOWN

down from 50 to 45 even in ridiculously right wing Rasmussen just this week. In fact, I think those particular numbers are what this Russia aproved stance is all about with NK.

30. I just saw a Marist poll that he's now at 42%

But I think the big job report, the NK meeting which everyone is praising, and the Steel workers approval is going to increase his approval rating.

32. Let me know when

he manages to average a 45% approval (which would still be pathetic given the tax cuts and a fairly strong economy).

11. Personally, I think its all theater

and distraction. Tillerson just said this morning that they’re a long way away from holding direct talks. No other American President has sat down with NK because they don’t want to legimatize them. Trump loves his autocrats, though.

That nerva agent assassination attempt plus a sudden offer from North Korea says “Here’s your chance to get it together and look good. Don’t screw it up.”

It tells every tinpot dictator that YOU TOO can develop nuclear arms and become legitimate enough to have the POTUS come visit!

19. Only way this works is if China and/or Russia give NATO Article 5-like assurance to North Korea

Guarantees of NKs future independence and integrity given by the US and South Korea wouldn't be enough.

However, a peace treaty with the Chinese and Russian nuclear umbrella extended over North Korea may give Kim enough assurance that he would agree to denuclearize North Korea itself.

Any hint of reunification has to be off the table on both sides. Only a "two state" solution is possible.

21. I thought that at first, but I've come to another possible reason.

Kim probably sees Dear Leader (our Dear Leader) in the same way he sees Dennis Rodman: celebrity reality show star. And Kim wants a bigger part in the show. Can you think of anything that would generate more "lights, camera, action" than the "Nut Summit" at Mar-a-Lago? Don better be writing a large, large check out to Stormy to stop any potential tiny dick pix from being published during the event. LOL.

My guess is that Kim is one of Putins pawns and he just played him to give Trump some temp cover.

24. Not really....

The Norks have been after a direct one on one with the USA for decades. It would give them legitimacy. Trump is just the first one to say he will do it, because he desperately needs to change the narrative.

25. I have a feeling Trump might soon announce that Russia played a role in getting to this dialogue...

.....and as a result, he's easing sanctions against Russia.

And I have a feeling that was done for Russia's benefit, not for Trump's. They want the US to end sanctions, and they don't care how it's done, they just want it done.

I think either Putin is behind these "talks" (read: surrender to Russia via NK) or tRump has no intention of following through on the agreement, as he's wont to do.
