CNN: Why did he Nunberg do it?

Why Sam Nunberg's insane interviews were inevitable

Why did he do it? For the same reason Carter Page, another former Trump aide in real legal jeopardy in regard to the 2016 campaign, keeps granting interviews. Because, I think, they like the attention and simply aren't sophisticated enough to understand how much damage they are doing to themselves. - CNN

I'd agree. Nunberg was extremely nervous on MSNBC's Ari interview, whiny and redfaced even. The guy is trying to go to present his case to the court of public opinion (TV), thinking it'll save him or someone he wants to defend.

I'd also suggest that tRump thinks the same way as this guy.

The guy feels real while he’s on TV, because that’s where reality is for him. I agree that it’’s the same mentality as Trump.
