We need to put a stop to that nonsense. Handing a placebo receipt to voters does NOT make an auditable result.

In my precinct, we fill in a paper ballot, which is optically scanned. In theory (if the laws are ever corrected to make it practical), that's auditable. The law should require very stringent storage, bi- (or multi-) party observers, and automatic audits of every single election. But at least we have paper.

Scan the ballots as they're submitted so the media can have its immediate gratification but then follow up with automatic audit for the official results.
