Romney's handlers have instructed him to be negative and criticize everything he is asked about. Like a robot.

Well, that is all well and good, but that is a hard habit to break once you are trained to do that and nothing else for months on end.

That is why when Romney is asked about anything his first reaction is to be negative and be critical.

That might work with teabaggers. But it isn't going to work with leaders of other countries.

Romney's handlers did NOT tell him to "be negative and criticize everything he is asked about." Not sure where you got that idea.

He was trying to be statesman-like and show off his diplomatic skills but he is easily moved to a petty and competitive mode and that came out in his gaffes about Olympic security and readiness. He announced he had a secret meeting (which was supposed to be KEPT secret) with MI5 -- that isn't being "negative", that is Romney chest puffing and, again, trying to look presidential.

Romney isn't stupid. He is a greedy, power hungry, entitled guy who hasn't had to give a shit what anyone thought of him or his actions for a long long time. He has kept himself surrounded with a cult of sycophants who help him dismiss all criticism of him and his actions from their minds, however valid. Forrest Gump is stupid. Woody on 'Cheers' is stupid. Romney might actually be more likeable if he WAS stupid because then we might forgive some of his actions but his actions are motivated by greed and vanity.
