Every self-proclaimed "Never-Trumper" spent years paving the path for him. They just thought they were paving it for themselves, and are in a huff that they are being out-carnival-barked.

To repeat myself from a week or two ago:

Trump did not come out of nowhere. He did not spring ex nihilo like Athena from the forehead of Zeus. The road that he's drag-racing on took years to pave.

The following are a list of requirements that you must have been before you can claim to be a NeverTrumper:

For at least a quarter century:
NeverNewt
NeverRush
NeverFOX
NeverNatRev
NeverNRA
NeverChristianCoalition
NeverFederalistSociety
NeverKoch
NeverMiscRichLooneyFundingPetIdeologicalProject
Bonus add-on: NeverJoeScar

For the past 18 years:
NeverRove
NeverBushBS
NeverCheney
NeverSean
NeverBillO
Never911ScareTactics
NeverIraqBS
NeverIraqOccupationFailure
NeverBushTaxCut (double that one after Iraq war launched. war+tax cuts /= fiscal responsibility)

(I am admittedly missing a whole passel of things that belong here -- JHB)

For the past 10 years:
NeverTea
NeverGlenn
NeverSarah
NeverPriority1TermPrez
NeverDebtCeilingGames
NeverStolenSCseat

(More missing stuff)

Failure to check ANY of these boxes means you are NOT "NeverTrump". You were fine with all the stuff that lead to him. Your only real problem is that you don't like his style.

As with all such self-loathing republicans who spend their entire lives hiding from themselves and destroying the lives of others, I just think what horror many of them will experience just before their deaths when they suddenly realize what they have done.... and have not done.... and how their lives have been a complete and utter waste.

Same group of mob mentality were "patriotically moved" to listen to Mitt Romney's campaign speeches:
Mitt: "Friends... (platitude, platitude, platitude, platitude.), queue up "America the boo'ful" off key."
Did even one new idea emerge? No, the entire campaign was based on re-hashed old tricks and an overestimation of the influence of wealth, worship of wealth.
Did it occur to his supporters there were no ideas presented? Just white-power veneer and favor-the-wealthy trickle down nonsense.
The red menace and conservative leaders learned the new trick to win: Combine extreme gerrymandering with increased and multiplied mass media volume: Stoke the hate. Frenzied hate, frenetic blame, "patriotic" anti-social fucking selfishness. The conservatives saw it too: blind faith didn't quite work, so create illusory belief system.
"Friends... (platitude, platitude, hatemonger platitude, warmonger platitude, racist platitude, namecalling platitude, childish wealth-worship platitude, anti-intellectual "elite" platitudes, blame platitudes) and wouldn't just be be wonderful, folks?"
And oh, fuck did they fall for it.
It's getting so insanely narrow minded dichotomy: DU'ers, please ignore the divisive bots. We must rise above all this to get through. Christ, only the most blind-faith are still behind this foolishness, and ideas, progress, outreach and education of the Fox-noise faithful (and often unemployed) can triumph, not more hateful divisiveness. Yes, it's maddening, but Rachel keeps saying it best: "This is not normal.", and that message is trickling through.
I live in California. Migrant workers from high unemployment states are here on contracts by the thousands. Well paid contracts. Some who won't shut off Fox, the vocal of which don't last long. Some who do wonder why they can't be close to their families. Wonder if all the anti-socialist "patriotism" is maybe... maybe... not really worth... um... anything.
They're here, because there are no jobs where their "patriotic conservatives" have choked the life out of the communities where even the WalMart that destroyed it first is now closed. They're here, and they "hear". Sometimes, it get through.
Keep the faith.

I'm disappointed in people on our side for being hypocrites about sexual harassers and abusers of women who are in our party, who are sitting in the White House, who brag about their extramarital affairs, who brag about mistreating women," she said.

Declining to mention Trump by name, Charen said conservatives are guilty of "look[ing] the other way" when it comes to the president and other Republican men who have faced allegations of sexual misconduct.

"This was a party that was ready to ... endorse Roy Moore for Senate in the state of Alabama even though he was a credibly accused child molester," Charen said.

"And the Le Pen name is a disgrace," she added. "Her grandfather is racist and a Nazi. She claims that she stands for him. And the fact that CPAC invited her is a disgrace," Charen said.
