The Cleaners begin their work.

Once again the mass media is furiously cleaning up after another mass murder by a man with a WMD, sold at your friendly neighbourhood gun shop or Walmart.

No a single drop of blood will be shown, every camera shot and video will studiously avoid shocking America with the reality of what a single gun wielded by a single man can do.

Then, tonight, Americans will settle into watching shootings, killings, decapitation, torture etc. on their TV and movies. Real event violence shock to be muted by fictional violence.

Show ONE picture of the Sandy Hook 1st grad classroom, the Muslim mosque, the Christian church, the streets of Las Vegas...etc. etc.

America clearly needs to be shocked into action...but The Cleaners refuse. Nothing will get done again cause Americans are NOT shocked near enough. Again.

Should the media release gun crime scene photos of mass murders, identifaction hidden?

1. It will be the same old shit again. America is a nation of professional mourners, and then it ends.

And the politicians will be scooping up NRA money. Damn, the US is disgusting!

13. Fucking NRA and fucking corrupt politicians at ththe fucking trough:

https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2017/11/audit-shows-nra-spending-surged-100-million-amidst-pro-trump-push-in-2016/

Fucking diabolical, but where do they get the massive funds from? Russia?

The National Rifle Associationís overall spending surged by more than $100 million in 2016, surpassing any previous annual NRA spending totals on record, according to an audit obtained by the Center for Responsive Politics.

The explosion in spending came as the NRA poured unprecedented amounts of money into efforts to deliver Donald Trump the White House and help Republicans hold both houses of Congress.
The audit filed with the state of North Carolina shows that the NRAís total expenditures exploded to more than $419 million, up from $312 million the prior year.

the US well might be pretty dismal. I'm so damn disappointed in what the US has become. Hopefully, the midterms will improve the situation.

6. I used to think that might spur some gun control, but after the first 100 or so pictures of

splattered brains and decimated torsos, it would all become routine. I don't know what will make things change. I also used to think if a member of Congress was a victim that would do it, but then it happened and that member of Congress is still one of the biggest gunhumpers of all. I'm beginning to believe that if you want to live in a safe society you need to leave this country.

Gabby went from being a well respected Congressperson, to becoming a robot, more or less. No disrespect intended, it's just a fact, she's never going to be close to the same again.

Oh, they will do everything to protect themselves, which is why it would be impossible to do anything within the halls of Congress. But the rest of us, in schools, offices, churches, theaters, arenas, shopping malls....are all on our own.

7. It will be kids with phones taking pictures that finally get the cruelty

of this crap out into the public arena. I have long said, as horrible as it is to contemplate, the police should have released photo's of the kids at Sandy Hook piled upon each other and blood everywhere to show the reality of this shit. Without that photographic evidence placed before the voting public, nothing will change.

17. Thats a good articlethank you

And it made me wonder whether Republicans might be more in favor of gun safety laws if they knew how much their donations from the NRA end up costing taxpayers in hospital bills for victims of gun violence. But of course they must know, and donít care as long as they keep getting their sweet $ from the NRA.

32. That is very true that it would be up to the family members of the victims.

But I recall reading about Emmet Till's mother being very outspoken about her son's dead body being shown to let the world see what "they did to him". Many, too many, young black men faced the same fate as Till, but he was the one who really started the change and I think his mother's action was the thing that helped.

We did not get to the sunny beach where we should be from that, but I think she turned the tides.

35. It was images of the horror of war that turned the tide of public opinion in Vietnam. The graphic

image of one 11 year old child screaming naked in the streets after a napalm attack is iconic.

But she was not white...so that is a problem with images of real horror by guns in America.

29. I say show all the pictures. Show what guns really do.

Show the maimed and deformed bodies. Show the faces turned into a pink pulp, and the blood-soaked corpses.

Hollywood has romanticized the idea of getting shot. Itís not just a body with a small hole in it that looks like itís sleeping. People have no idea how messy gunshot wounds really are.

Though the bullets are tiny, wounds left by AR-15 rounds create a mess. A lot of families wonít even be able to have an open casket. Their last memory of their loved one will be gruesome and horrible.

People need to see what these destructive devices do. Hollywood has sanitized them. Iím not for banning guns (even AR-15s), but we need to lose the romanticized view of guns that our society has.

30. It is harsh, but we as a society do need to see the real brutality.

I just finished watching The Wire, and I have watched other shows where people are shot. It does not make me blase about violence. It makes me more confused and sickened that people are like that. (yes, it is fiction, but these things do happen in real life).

I have heard it said that folks finally got sick of hearing about the body count in the Vietnam War and that did much to sway public opinion against it.

It does seem harsh, but when it is sanitized it is not hitting folks hard enough and they will keep tolerating it.

I don't need to see the blood and the bodies to know we need to do something, but obviously more people do need to.

31. "It does seem harsh, but when it is sanitized it is not hitting folks hard enough...."

Nicely summarized.

3% on DU not agreeing seems about right.

And I think that number has shrunk a great deal in the past year, on DU and in the public mind.

34. Turned The Tide In Vietnam

Many more people turned against that military action once they started to see it on TV. Even though Tricky Dick got re-elected in '72, the war was very unpopular among the majority of americans. In '68, not so much.
