In talking with conservatives about healthcare and public policy, I hear repeatedly that the US has the "best healthcare in the world". My response is that is like saying Italy makes the best cars in the world. Italy does make Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini and they are the best cars in the world, but it certainly doesn't mean they have best car industry. America does have an out sized proportion of world class research hospitals but that doesn't mean America's healthcare industry is meeting Americans needs.

(13,665 posts)... were available, accessible, and affordable to all Americans, then we could say we have the best health care in the world. Until then, we can only correctly claim to have perhaps developed these cutting edge techniques and technologies. Honestly, if we had the best health care, then we as a nation would be the healthiest people, would we not?

(54,518 posts)we have some really awesome medical treatment available for those who can afford it.
what we're not good at is distributing it, and distributing it in a way that doesn't bankrupt people merely for getting sick or having an accident.

(17,235 posts)The American Criminal Enterprise Healthcare System is just that; price gouging costs while delivering substandard or less care! It is about to become much worse with redumbliCONs controlling everything. The only thing redumbliCON political scum cares about is how much Healthcare corporations can bleed off the patients and government!
