I hate that it's come down to this

Each day I have to tell myself that Mueller's team has gotten another full day to uncover the crimes of the Trump regime while bringing us one day closer to the mid term elections. That's my mantra for coping: Mueller/Midterms and hang on for dear life.

None of us can do much to help Mueller other that to let the political world know in advance that we will explode if anything happens to thwart his probe, but it's gotta be all hands on deck for the midterms.

4. Each passing day gives Trump the opportunity to put his people in secretive positions of power.

People who can then use that secretive power to control the political process in this country.

5. Yes. He does damage by the hour.

It's a race against the clock; damning indictments and/or a massive electoral blue wave by November, or erosion of the fabric of our Democracy before then.

7. This is what makes it all so hard

We are witnessing the dismantling of our nation, government, and foreign relations as an ongoing horror show.

8. Registering Voters & Helping Them Get to the Polls, Including State & Local Elections Works!

Participating in local and state elections and voting in them, primaries included, is a really great antidote and had a more immediate impact on people's lives. GOTV is the answer! ANY Democratic candidate is better than a Republican and donors pay attention to turnout.

11. You can do this by. . .

. . .joining up with your local Democratic committee/club in your hometown, and attend their meetings. You get a feel for who the players are, locally; and where and how the wires are pulled by the powers that be.
You can also get to become a district leader or precinct captain; they are always looking for warm bodies to fill those slots.
In terms of canvassing, ballot petitioning, and the ground game for campaigning and getting out the vote, this is where the rubber meets the road.

There are also Indivisible chapters throughout the nation. Find one in your home town and join up. They provide additional people power in terms of helping the ground game on behalf of candidates.

Remember: the other side may outspend us, but they will not out-work us in the ground game.

We must bust ours. . .to kick theirs.

16. Local Democratic Committees can be critical hubs

Especially in smaller towns and rural areas. I'm on one myself. The people who agree to serve on Democratic Committees are the ones willing to step forward to do the unsung nuts and bolts work of keeping the Democratic Party alive and growing, and that pretty much is their only reward. Two or three more new people willing to help out at the Democratic Committee level can make a huge impact on what that committee can accomplish. I strongly second your recommendation.

12. I HEARTILY recommend plugging into your local Indivisible group.

And/or any local Democratic clubs. From what I have personally observed, theyíre all activated and highly motivated. Moreso than Iíve seen in a long time!

Things should be moving faster. Please don't compare this to Nixon's resignation either because this is a completely different time in history with much, much more access to information more quickly.

14. Hello Tom

I know it is frustrating but this kind of cases are extremely complex and investigations take a very long time.

It is one thing to be convinced or to suspect a criminal behavior, it is another one to prove it.

Proofs have to be collected in a legal way and the case must be built carefully, secured at each stage. An omission or a mistake can ruin partially or completely a case.

Mueller is very experienced, it will take the time needed but at the end, he'll certainly provide an unassailable case with incontrovertible proofs.

15. 5 of 14 crack prosecutors on Muellers dream team are money laundering specialists.

There has to be billions of reasons for that.

18. I think, too, the reason the GOP isn't worried one bit, is because our voting system

is a fucking joke.
It was hacked and rearranged for the GOP. Nothing has been done.
So it's going to happen again.

19. If they had it totally wired for them, Republicans would not have lost so many special elections

I agree that our voting system is a joke. ATM's are safer than evoting and they get hacked all the time. But for any number of reasons Republicans still lose elections in America, and they have lost some that they really didn't want to lose this year. And I'm not just thinking about Alabama. The results in Virginia state house and senate races were literally shocking for one good example. A totally rigged system would not have allowed those outcomes.

Our best defense against election theft (when government isn't doing its job to defend fair elections) is a good offense. Democrats have to be so fucking energized this year, and public sentiment against Republicans so blatantly strong, that those who would seek to steal an election will know that it can not be plausibly done.

to get in the WH.

21. To guarentee that it would have to virtually be totally rigged

It's more plausible that they can alter some outcomes to a degree, and that could make the ultimate margin of difference. It's possible that was the case given all the circumstances at play in 2016. I believe that it still is possible to have a massive blue wave election given the current circumstances in 2018.

22. And remember this:

Mueller will present his findings to the Justice Department. The DOJ has to act, and if it doesnít, then it is up to the Congress to act on Muellerís findings.

If we Democrats donít make significant inroads in the House and Senate this fall, Trump will be unaccountable

26. Also think of

all the wins we've managed to pick up in special elections. I mean we took an Alabama Senate seat!!! There have been wins and now there are candidates stepping up! In my neck of the woods we finally have a credible and brilliant candidate for our state House seat! Total RED county where we make a little progress each election cycle.

Persist, help as you can and take heart from the fact that MILLIONS of us are in the together and we won't stop!

Good to see you Tom. Hang in there, we'll make it!

Julie

28. I am heartened by all that Julie.

It's why I foresee major reinforcements arriving in November to help us turn the tide. We had several hundred activists turn out during snow on Super Bowl Sunday to see a debate between Democrats seeking the nomination to run against the Republican incumbent in our congressional district. There is much more local organizing going on now than I have seen before in the 16 years I've lived here.

Good to see you too Julie. I know you'll be working hard to flip that red state house seat.

27. Right there with you

Each night I tune into Rachel hoping she will be covering the real end of this nightmare. Some nights it seems tantalizingly close. Other nights it seems to have slipped away.

For us, time to ramp up for the midterms. I have already seen students working on the voter registration drives at the college where I teach. This is the one thing I support with my whole heart and soul. It is the first real glimmer of hope in my day to day life.
