Just FYI, I went to Senator Wyden's town hall last Friday. Hoping this will be reassuring to you all:
At one point he did specifically mention how concerned he was about election security and that he was doing a lot of work on it. He did specifically mention voting machines and other cyber security issues and registration data bases. So there are some Dems working on this. He takes questions by lottery so your number has to get called to ask a question, which is fair, but frustrating in that I am often left wanting more information! I was dying to ask more but my number didn't get drawn.
He is on Senate Intel so knows as much as anyone about Russian election meddling. He is also all over the entire Russia thing and has been since it first was a thing. He's been saying for a long time to follow the money and the trail of dead Russians.
I always feel so much better after going to one of his town halls because I know that at least we are in good hands with Wyden and Merkley. He has a town hall in every county in Oregon every year, and has had more than that in Portland since the election. Probably because his constituents are so concerned. And I am immensely grateful and aware of how fortunate those of us are who have good senators and reps.

(51,564 posts)I made a list last week of my favorites and yours were on it. Too bad your number wasn't chosen at the Town Hall.
I listened to Biden discuss this issue today and he was pretty clear about what needs to be done specifically. It doesn't seem like it would be very difficult to get it done but we can't wait until the last minute and we can't wait for this admin to do anything about it ever since they won't.

(7,753 posts)rid of that snake in the grass Greg Walden. Unfortunately, he represents the entire East side of the state. He never met a billionaire he didn't love and he never met a poor man he did. Not only did he vote for the tax give away, he was one of the main drafters of it. He screwed Oregonians big time and he needs to go.

(1,765 posts)I went to Joaquin Castro's town hall last year and it was an amazing experience. He invites everyone even if you aren't in his district to attend his town halls. And since my Rep Lamar Smith (who is on the retiring list) NEVER has town halls I couldn't wait to go. This was in March right before they started the open hearings in the Intel Committee. Joaquin had people put questions in a bowl and his staff would randomly pull out questions so it's similar to the lottery technique.
And of course Cruz and Cornyn NEVER have town halls....
Another reason I love Beto O'Rourke (who is running against Cruz) is that his goal is to have town halls in EVERY 254 county of Texas! So far I think he is at 206-ish.
I can't wait until after the Blue tidal wave here where we can finally have Rep and a NEW Senator who will actually hold town halls and represent the people.
