Who Is Carter Page?

Now that the GOP has had its way with #ReleasetheMemo nonsense, the name Carter Page, former Trump campaign advisor, has raised more than a few eyebrows, as in:

Who the hell is Carter Page?

Time Magazine takes a stab at it in addition to releasing a curious letter penned by no other than the poor, surveillance subject himself. In said letter, sent to the editor of an academic press, Page describes himself as ‘an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin . . . .’

Impressive credentials! Particularly for someone who has decried any accusation of Kremlin links in the past.

This written claim in 2013 was after Page had a first sit-down with the FBI during which he was warned of possible Russian recruitment. Page ignored the warning.

I suspect there will be more ‘finds’ of this nature in the next few weeks, a series of leaks and information dumps previously withheld from the public.

Taking on the FBI and intelligence community was not a smart move by the Trumpster and his noxious enablers.

Let the Games begin!

Page is a creepy, strange character. I read elsewhere that even the Russians thought he was a dimwit. Or at least playing one for effect.

But it's a witch hunt! Look, he's not even part of my campaign! So it's a witch hunt! Crooked Hillary and her wiretaps! Why? I don't know! I never heard of him. Never! So why? Ask her! Ask crooked Hillary! I never even met him! Unbelievable! Sad! Wiretapping my campaign! Very very sad! And unfair! He's a very good man! Very very good! And now this! Can you say witch hunt? I never heard of him! And now this!"

It's the--Carter Page we hardly knew ye--approach. And btw, HRC is the criminal playback noise.

Which is getting pretty wearisome from the Trumpster camp. Should be interesting when Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. are dragged into the messy legal maneuverings. Will the Trumpster pretend he doesn't know his own family members?? Or maybe suggest they've been body snatched?

Things are about to get interesting.

Page's comment last year, quite prescient on the FISA release memo, about how the public release of the information would "set people free," set off an alarm. Pretty strange.

The Trump defense team picked the FISA application per Page for a reason -- the poison tree produces poison fruit bit. They think the FBI etc can't respond, as it could reveal "methods," thus providing Russia with information on exactly what and when the FBI gathered information. (I'm working on an essay on this very topic now.)
