"Deep state" is actually an amazing term.
It is funny how the GOP is using this theory again! We heard this back in former President Clinton's administration! Remember, the black helicopters flying around spying on Americans? Now days, they let Russian spies in the back doors! Now that is really a deep state secret?

1. The "deep state" they fear is apolitical career officials that uphold the Constitution
who will not be corrupted just because one Party controls the government.
There are countless people who work the same, and follow the rules regardless of who is president, and it kills the gop. |

3. +100. But not so funny, it's also large-scale projection.
The eternal whiff of authoritarianism, even fascism from the hard right, is growing to a stench. Today's DC Republicans would "deep state" with a vengeance (literally) if they could. Their abandoning all pretenses of duty to constitutional norms in support of their current wannabe dictator demonstrates that unmistakably.
