Glen Greenwald, Matt Tiabbi, Ralph Nader

What a bunch of assholes. I mean I just can't get enough of hearing about what assholes these guys are. I mean in the asshole universe these assholes are the size of sinkholes. Ever seen an asshole the size of a sinkhole? It's not pretty. These guys are so bad that we should spend the next two weeks talking about what assholes they are. What's the point of having assholes if you can't talk about assholes? I know there is nothing I like better than to be discussing the same 3 assholes for days on end. Really. It's not like there is anything important happening. Just more assholes. Everywhere I look I see assholes. Assholes to the left of me, assholes to the right of me. I'm surrounded by assholes! IMHO we should continue the attacks on the assholes, because those assholes are very important, and if you don't nip those assholes in the bud then... well... then.... then life would go on anyway. And then what the fuck would we do? Life isn't worth living unless I'm talking about some assholes. Hey you know if tomorrow those three come out in support of Obama then we have plenty more assholes waiting in the wings. There's the Jon Stewart asshole, The Keith Olbermann asshole, the Tom Hartmann asshole, The Stephen Colbert asshole, shit we got so many assholes waiting in the wings we will never be without an asshole, and that... is good for America.

when they repeatedly have to resort to tearing others down because they have no positive message to run on.

8. Politics in this country is like hungry sharks tearing at a piece of meat.

I do not think any country has the negativity that this one does. Truth and fairness be damned.

9. And pundits are kings at it. I don't understand DU's fixation on pundits, tbh.

It would be so much better if we could just get down to raw philosophy and basic observation. Would be goddamn awesome. But, nah, we let the pundits run the show. And they get hits for their corporate owned websites. And the cycle continues.

12. Which pundits, which people?

It's always sad when those who are supposedly on the left tear down fellow progressives. I haven't seen any of the people mentioned in the OP do that. Criticize specific policies? Yes. Belittle the neoliberal agenda? absolutely. Obsessively attack the character of a fellow progressive? No.

How many "Fuck _____!" posts do you think Nader has written? Honestly?

13. Does it matter? I certainly remember some people being called "small minded..."

...and some progressives being called, "simple-minded Manicheans and the lying partisan enforcers."

This, from a lying pundit.

I'm sorry, but some people have to hold a position somewhere, and I hold mine against right wingers, which includes Ron Paul and people who distort Ron Paul's positions and try to conform them to liberal policies under the auspices of some sort of perceptions game.

If you don't consider that tearing people down, that's fine. We have a different perspective.

You would think that, with the election season upon us, these boards would be full of positive, excited commentary about our candidate's positive agenda...all the wonderful plans and initiatives he has in mind to help Americans and bring our country back to health.

There are zero posts like that. I cannot find a single one. Even the President's most enthusiastic supporters seem to have nothing positive to put forth, and seem stuck in attempting to tear down other candidates, and any criticism of the administration, instead.

When you talk to people around you, do they seem to have any awareness of a positive Democratic agenda, or are they merely hearing "Fuck the other guy"?

to alienate other Dems than it is to attack Repugs.

In the last 2 days I have "trashed" more than 2 DOZEN threads about one of the three people I mentioned. I'm about done wasting my time here. I thought a place called the Democratic Underground would have more intelligent discussions than "Glen Greenwald is a poopy head".

I'm pretty new to this site and for some reason I thought it was a place where progressives, liberals, and others talked about ideas and ways to make our country better. And there is _alot_ of that and it's a great site for that. But I am surprised how much vitriol there is against any criticism of elected Democratic officeholders, especially Obama.

Just cuz someone's an asshole doesn't mean they're wrong.

And not one of those three men hold office, make laws, or break laws, far as I know. What is the power they have that makes them drive people to distraction? Why are they the subject of contempt?
